Coming off of a three week tour of Australia, a tour of North America with Feed Me, a handful of parties in Miami, and a recent relocation to Los Angeles, AC Slater comes back hard out of the studio with the bass-heavy Electro release, Sidewinder, due out on Brooklyn’s Trouble & Bass Recordings on May 8th. Sidewinder features a two-pack of originals from AC, along with a pair of big and bassy remixes from pals Drop The Lime and RackNRuin. Just what you’d expect from a member of the T&B family, AC Slater delivers some low-end Electro that begs for a massive system. Get it into you after the jump. Continue Reading

I’ve always felt like CONTROL at the Avalon provided a home away from home situation for the Trouble & Bass crew. Drop The Lime and AC Slater were some of the first acts that I ever saw at CONTROL, and it’s been great watching the artists and the party grow up together over the past 3 years. This week, the Heavy Bass Champions will return once more to 1735 Vine St. for a full-on takeover, featuring DJ sets from Drop The Lime, AC Slater, Star Eyes, The Captain, and Samo Sound Boy. What a lineup, right? Right.

Hot off of some serious hype for his recent Woman Like Me EP Remixes, Chicago native Willy Joy is keeping it going with a massive fall mixtape featuring loads of new tracks and exclusives. You’ll hear everything from some Brooklyn Bass from AC Slater and Bart B More to some hometown Chicago flavor from Cajmere to the grooving insta-classic from Julio Bashmore, ‘Battle For Middle You.’ It’s an eclectic mix for the masses, but don’t just take my word for it. Here’s what WJ had to say about it…

“The seasons are changing and I put together a new mix for Fall to help you shift gears. House, Techno, Electro, Moombahton and more – this is a bass heavy mix full of new sounds, classic sounds, and a few exclusives you won’t hear anywhere else. It’s chock-full of GDD favorites, and you can also hear previews of some of my upcoming tunes for Trouble & Bass and others. I’ll be on tour for a lot of the Fall, so keep checking my tour dates and say hi if I’m in your town. And, as always, holler at me on Twitter!”

As you may or may not know, the Trouble & Bass DJ/Producer from Brooklyn known as AC Slater teamed up with Atlanta’s indie rapper, Dell ’080′ Harris, last year for a full length dance/rap crossover album that was released by the always fresh NY streetwear company, Mishka Clothing. The album was produced by AC, featured vocals from Dell, and also hosted a roster of featured artists including Drop The Lime, Ninjasonik, Megan Thomas, and more. The guys have just released the the title track of the album, ‘Right Now,’ today as an EP along with the instrumental and a raunchy little rendition from Party Like Us Records rep, Udachi, that has already been getting support from Starkey, DJ Mehdi, Rico Tubbs, and more. Grab the Udachi remix in full quality and make sure to check out the awesome music video for ‘Right Now’ below.

So the Party Like Us Records guys have made their decision. The winner of the GDD™ ‘Stumble’ Remix Competition is Detroit native/LA resident, Rob Darke. Rob actually just recently got into EDM in the past couple years, saying that he really got into it after using it as a sleep deterrent while writing essays in college, but since his first few dance music experiences, he knew musical production was something he wanted to do. With the help and guidance of his brother Brian, Rob Darke has quickly become keen to the ways of making a solid electronic track, and with influences such as Canblaster, Wolfgang Gartner, and Tony Senghore, it’s safe to say that a bright future lies ahead for this up and comer. Here’s what Udachi had to say about the winning remix:

“I think Rob Darke’s remix is a good example of a nice solid tune, nothing overdone, just straight good. The vocal on the original is tricky because it starts a quarter note late from the 1, and I think it threw a lot of people off. But Rob Darke’s remix makes sense musically and has his own personal flair. The mix is nice and clean, and I love the big build into the 4×4 tease into the soca snare bit. I can hear this in a variety of DJ’s crates; from sunrise sets, to setting the pace for the night. Real classy and gleamin’!”

Find Rob’s remix as well as remixes from the first and second runners up below, and make sure to pick up the full Stumble EP on Beatport!

And finally, the last word from AC Slater, Udachi, and the rest of the PLU crew…“We had so many amazing submissions, it was really hard to pick a winner. Thanks to everyone who entered!”

Party Like Us label boss, AC Slater, has just sent us over his edit of the much adored Boys Noize biggie, ‘Yeah’. This is the first edit, remix, or touch up that I have heard of the massive original, and according to Aaron, it’s been getting some great feedback while playing it out. Give it a listen, and producers keep your eyes out for a Party Like Us remix competition coming up on GDD™ in the near future.

If you haven’t heard yet, AC Slater has teamed up with Dell Harris on a project called AC & Dell. It features music written and produced by AC Slater and vocals by Dell as well as a few guest appearances from Drop The Lime, Ninjasonik, Megan Thomas, and more. The guys have been kind enough to give you the entire album for free as well as let you see the exclusive for their brand new video for ‘Right Now.’ If you can make it out this Friday, make sure to catch AC Slater’s set as Dell will be hopping on stage to do a few of their songs live. Here are a couple of my favorites from the album. What do you guys think about their new venture?

So how was everyone’s Friday last week? If any of you can say that you made it out of the Avalon without sweating through your shirt I just wouldn’t believe you. Last week recorded the largest capacity that any CONTROL or Avaland night has ever had, proving once again that there is no substitute for hard-hitting electronic music in the city of Los Angeles. We thank you all for making CONTROL what it is every week, and it really is all of you fans and enthusiasts that keep this shit going.

That said, we invite you once again this week to come dance to another heavily weighted lineup including Zodiac Cartel, Don Diablo, Hatiras, and more.
Please RSVP all names to JONAH@GOTTADANCEDIRTY.COM to be on our discount ticket list for the night. All guests on our list please enter through the left side Honey Lounge entrance. Pricing will be as follows:
21+: 10$ before 12am
