Perfect Driver have been on fire thus far in 2014 & “Silver Screen” by Aaron Snapes is the perfect track to help keep the label on a good one. Reworking a classic can be tricky business but Aaron Snapes delivers an absolute dance floor bomb on “Silver Screen”, a modern revamp of Felix Da Housecat’s 2001 classic “Silver Screen Shower Scene”. “Silver Screen” has already garnered massive support from acts like Chordashian, Dirtloud, Utah Saints, golfFFinch, Henry Krinkle, Clicks & Whistles, Dubfire (sorter), Droog, Bixel Boys, Codes, Russ Chimes, Riccardo Primavera, Tensnake, Larry Tee, Roger Seventy Two/TWR72, Damian Lazarus, Christian Martin, Roger Sanchez, Danny Tenaglia, Destructo, What So Not (Emoh Instead/Flume), Laidback Luke, Nick Catchdubs, Armand van Helden, Gorgon City (Rack N Ruin, Foamo), Justin Jay, Eric Sharp, Burn Unit…shall I go on?!? It’s the sound of the Underground on mile high stacks of speakers. LOOK OUT, MIAMI.
Fresh off his stint of California shows from Avalon to Lightning in a Bottle, Aaron Snapes has shared some previews of his upcoming summer releases. His new Drum Beats EP off Perfect Driver Music features an original from Snapes and a remix from our friend Kirin Rider. Drum Beats delivers a heavy 4X4 Booty/Tech groove while Kirin’s remix twists up the original to fit her own San Fran flavor. Give the tracks a listen and mark your calendars for its August 23rd release!
Back again to hit you off with yet another tune getting heavy support from the dirtybird Records fam and more, this one has been a staple in the sets of everyone from Claude VonStroke to Flux Pavilion to Justin Jay recently.
Mr. Oizo’s seminal 1999 dance music anthem, Flat Beat, perked up the ears of an entire generation of talented young musicians to the sounds of Electro House. The track was made viral before viral existed by a clever Levi’s marketing campaign and a all-time classic music video featuring the above pictured Flat Eric (partaking in some nefarious activities GDD™ does not condone). Usually I’d recommend against tampering with such a well-known and universally beloved song, but the Leeds-based dynamo Aaron Snapes took a crack at this one and absolutely knocked it out of the park.
Awhile back I got sent a track that absolutely blew my mind. Then I played that track out at our weekly Thursday night party and I think I blew the speakers in the entire venue. If you get nauseous easily, kindly close your internet browser now. If you’re into some serious, no nonsense, next level bass shit then look no further. I shit you not, it thoroughly and literally made the entire building shake.
That track, aptly titled C.T.C. (Call The Cops), came out last Monday and is now seeing support by the likes of Diplo, Claude VonStroke and the rest of the dirtyBird camp, and more. Check out the tracks below or through the artwork above, and then carry on to my interview with the man himself, Aaron Snapes, to find out everything you need to know about this newcomer from Leeds.
