Curtis Jones aka Green Velvet aka Cajmere released the 36-track Cajual vs. Relief Compilation today, boasting dozens of remixes, originals, and collaborations including this one from our pal Doorly who teamed up with the 2x label boss for a House heater titled “Money.” With vocals from Green Velvet, the 7-minute tune is a low-slung, late night groover, reminiscent of dark warehouses and bad decisions. Have a listen to “Money” below and check the entire compilation on Beatport. √+
Jersey Club homie, DJ Hoodboi, has teamed up with M|O|D’s Arnold for a solid rework of Future’s truthful tune, “Honest,” and to be quite honest, I’d actually prefer the guys’ new remix over the original (pls don’t tell Future). Lots of great stuff coming from both of these producers at the moment, so make sure to check out both of their Soundclouds (Hoodboi & Arnold) and download this one for free here. √+
Man, the Love Sublime EP release is just so perfect. Tensnake has lined up an unreal remix cast for the March 9th release, with Duke Dumont, Le Youth, Jonas Rathsman, and Ewan Pearson all contributing their styles on the already groovy original. The Duke himself posted up his rendition via Soundcloud this week, and it’s easy to tell that we’ll be hearing this many times leading into the spring. Mark your calendars, Tensnake will be bestowing his very much anticipated debut full length, Glow, on March 11th just in time for festie season √+
Big tune out this week from the Anjunadeep camp! Lauded by many as one to watch this year, Sydney’s Lancelot has teamed up with vocal duo Antony & Cleopatra for “Givin’ It Up,” a monster, feel-good House track sure to be a mainstay in deep circles this year. Accompanying its exclusive release on Beatport this week, Anjunadeep has commissioned an amazing video from director, Jonathon Lim, for the single, shooting a father/daughter acrobatic team in a sketchy suburb of Shanghai. Amazing track, amazing video. Get into it. √+
It’s safe to say that Jimmy Edgar and his imprint, Ultramajic, are steaming right now, and the Whip release from Aden out today is a prime example. Folks everywhere have been pumping out the original jawn, including Techno giants Loco Dice, Boys Noize, and Scuba, and Jimmy’s remix is the ultimate cherry on top as the label boss cuts up the original and adds some proper jackin’ feel.
The Whip EP is a triumphant start for the label in 2014, and there are already another two EPs in the pipeline from Danny Daze and Sophie that are sure to keep the momentum going. Have a listen to Jimmy’s remix below and pick up the EP on Beatport. √+
