Australian producers & musicians, Rufus, have just released an exclusive mixtape in honor of their visit to the United States for CMJ. They’ll be playing a number of showcases out in New York, but definitely be sure to check out their live performance at the Vitalic Noise showcase Thursday night at the DL. The mixtape is filled with deep and disco grooves perfect for fall, with that australian flavor we all love.

Viceroy’s at it again, sticking to his “Summertime, All the Time” mantra on his brand new remix of Washington, DC indie electronic band Brett.  Viceroy takes the funky feel of the original and splashes it with his trademark summer colors.  Sunny piano, sweet, bouncy lyrics and frolicking disco vibes make Brett + Viceroy the perfect fit to keep those dark days full of light.

Out October 30th on iTunes!

“Make Believe” is the latest release from Binary family member Andrew Verner, aka Touch Tone.  While Touch Tone’s fantastic first single, “Home Away From Home”, oozed with late night Summer flair, “Make Believe” offers up a more moody & dramatic Autumn feel.  The drum pattern & percussion mixed with the piano & synths give the song a tropical dreamwave vibe while Alex Koons’ vocals set the mood, conjuring up a climactic, cinematic feel.  SO Binary & SO GOOD.

“Make Believe” is out NOW & available in all online stores…

Cheers to our man Viceroy for putting just the right touch on his edit of the 1983 Talking Heads classic “This Must Be The Place”.  Beefing up a classic can be tricky business.  But Viceroy gives this edit the proper modern retouch with redone drums, redone bassline, added percussion and two new instrument lines (one guitar and one synth).  Viceroy gives new life to a classic tune & introduces it to a new audience with his chic + contemporary edit.

This is probably my favorite time for music. Right at the end of summer and beginning of fall where tropical disco and deep house start to blend. Colour Vision has the blender out and perfectly crafted a cocktail infusing both sounds to perfectly emulate my current mood. Check it out along with the official video below.

This week’s Dirt is a big one.  Not only did we up the ante with FOURTEEN big tunes to give away (that’s two touchdowns worth of tracks); we also have a very special guest contributor from one of our favorite sites/labels.  Gotta Dance Dirty is pleased to welcome Nancy Lu from Discobelle as our special guest contributor on The Dirt #86.  One look at Nancy’s Twitter account and you’ll see that she’s a big favorite amongst many of our favorite bloggers and artists alike.  And there is certainly a reason for her popularity…Nancy knows her stuff.  When it comes to writing about electronic music, Nancy is one talented + crafty word slinger.  GDD™ could not be more pleased to have her on board this week.  To top things off, not only is Nancy lending her words, she’s also this week’s Dirt Babe.  SCORE.

And now, The Dirt #86 brought to you by Discobelle’s Nancy Lu + aRod

This truly has been the summer of FRΞNCH ΞXPRΞSS and it is not over yet. Last night, they released another FREE track through their soundcloud. This time the track comes from The Establishment, a new project from house music mastermind Chris Malinchak. According to FRΞNCH ΞXPRΞSS, Chris was extremely reluctant to the idea and refused to share any of the tracks with the public due to their personal nature.  After much, convincing (more like forcing) they were able to pry a few tracks out of him.

Another tropical heater given away by one of our favorite labels, French Express, and by none other than Jonas Rathsman. This guy has been churning out awesome deep tropical tracks that are very infectious and layered.  This was the last “mystery” track in Tropicool’s Solé fixtape, and the generous Mr. Rathsman is giving it away for free; and i quote, “The price is one teardrop of happiness.”  This is not only a great example of what a great song should sound like, but its a great example of how an artist and label should behave as well.  Hats off.

Fixtapes are Mixtapes geared specifically for your ride. This tape is about constant motion and positive vibes to keep your legs cranking while your heart is pumping. It’s a new series by the Sole Bicycle guys which will feature a new artist every month resulting in quite an awesome compilation. I, Tropicool, was lucky enough to kick things off with Volume One. Enjoi!
