Miami Music Week is upon us & Perfect Driver label boss Matthew Anthony is bringing a little something extra on his way into town. As part of the label’s Miami Drivers 2016 compilation, the bossman’s track “Do It Again” will no doubt be rattling rooftops at plenty of daytime pool parties as well as being a go-to track for the late night club kids. It’s got the label’s signature driving bassline of endless energy that should have Miami-goers dancing right out of their bathing suits.

Not too many producers have a remix resume like Stuart Price. Whether it’s under his given name or his Jacques Lu Cont/Thin White Duke/Paper Faces monikers (to name a few), Mr. Price has put together some of dance music’s best remixes over the last 15+ years. His stretch of remixes in 2002 to 2003 when he remixed Felix da Housecat, The Faint & Madonna b2b2b has to be considered one of the greatest ever. Over a decade after that unparalleled stretch, he still has the magic touch delivering another finely crafted remix of London Grammar’s “If You Wait” under his Jacques Lu Cont alias. In classic JLC style, he reels you in with pulsating beats & soaring vocals then elevates the energy levels for a heart racing, heart melting finish.
Euphoria levels: HIGH.
I’ve always been a massive fan of Miike Snow and will never forget seeing them at Coachella back in 2012. Well, Christan has seemed to do what almost no one has done before, and play Coachella with 2 different groups. The latter being his new project with Style of Eye, entitled Galantis. For those that do not know, Galantis is a super group from Sweden with big room electro on the palate. Definitely hints of the infectious hooks we got so accustomed to back in the Miike Snow days. Don’t miss these guys out in the desert this weekend, as they put on quite a show!
See them Saturday 9:35 – 1035 at the Gobi Stage
Mr. Falcon have a brand new track out that will send you into space. Mr. Falcon is made up of Philly maestros Blueshift & Ily. They’re the most formidable Philadelphia duo since Dr. J & Moses Malone. Mr. Falcon’s new track “Landing Lights” is an ominous, pulsating Deep Progressive track filled with spacey, after hours groove. It’s cosmic, infectious & out of this world.
After releasing his Aston Shuffle and Ellie Goulding remixes last year, the blogosphere favorite, Special Features, returns with a distinctive remix of Flight Facilities’ “I Didn’t Believe” featuring Elizabeth Rose as his first offering in 2014. In the remix, he melds his signature melody-driven style with a nu-disco sound for a tasteful progressive house gem. Special Features has been busy cooking up fresh tunes in the studio, so you can expect more releases in the near future. Listen/Download his remix below.
This week the second massive dance compilation from Global AIDS Fund organization (RED) was released, with many of dance music’s biggest names coming together to add their tracks and remixes to an album whose profits go towards helping end the AIDS epidemic around the world.
Dance (RED): Save Lives 2 sees the likes of big-league names like Swedish House Mafia, Calvin Harris, R3hab, Tommy Trash, Benny Benassi, Tiesto and Deadmau5, along with a fine selection of trendsetters like Jesse Rose, Kaytranada, Gorgon City, Baauer and RL Grime.
You can stream more of the tracks + check the full tracklist after the jump.
Last week Deadmau5 got the internets all astir when he announced he would be leaving twitter for good, and in the same breath dropped a few previews of his up and coming tracks on soundcloud. While we mourn the loss of one of our favorite twitter personalities, we can’t wait to get a listen to what Joel has in store. Lucky for us LEVI seemed to be one of the few who got a jump on the mau5’s “Drop the Poptart” preview and produced one hell of a bootleg.
Everyone in New York is busy getting ready for the Ed Banger 10th Anniversary tonight and to celebrate there has been a lot of really great french producers giving music away for free. LEVI is no exception. I just stumbled upon his most recent ‘Le Code’ EP and it’s a slice of hard electro-progressive heaven. I hear something new with every listen and it’s complexities and orchestral stylings easily show LEVI’s classical upbringing.
As a bonus for all you Ed Banger die-hards out there, FACTION, a hard electro duo that LEVI is a part of with Boston based artist Kenny Gray, just released this dope remix of Busy P, also for free download!
Back in the early 2000s, when Trance & Progressive House ruled the day and illegal raves were morphing into promoted festivals, “UB Devoid” by Way Out West was one of the big guns in every DJ’s repertoire. It was dark, heavy & emotional and could hypnotize any festival crowd. Fast forward more than a decade & we find our good friend Pat Lok breathing new life into the Progressive House classic. Pat Lok’s modernized version eases back on the tempo but still lets loose with emotion. Pat balances nicely between dark Disco & throwback House while still maintaining a Progressive feel…just enough Progressive fire to fit nicely into a Timo Maas, Paul Oakenfold, Sander Kleinenberg, X-Press 2 or Sasha & Emerson DJ set from yesteryear. A beautiful modern throwback…
