We’re kickin off this weekend RIGHT NOW. The main man TJR has just put out (2) phenomenal mixes for the masses, representing the electro edge and the funky fidgety techno side. In celebration of TJ performing @ our VERSUS party tonight in Santa Monica, he has given us the exclusive unveiling of the track listing for his mysterious ‘Funky Tekno’ mix – we’ll wait a second while you go “YESSSTTTTHHHHH.” Packed with staples from this madman’s DJ sets, you’re bound to find some gems in these track listings. TJR has huge releases forthcoming on Chris Lake’s Rising Music label, along with support from the likes of Tiesto, Fatboy Slim, Chuckie, Benny Benassi, Dada Life, Calvin Harris, Steve Aoki and so many more…
Hot off the press, our Canadian buddies Botnek have sent us their newest remix, taking on the sounds of house mogul Tocadisco. These guys keep impressing me with their innovative directions on every remix, always testing the limits of the original tracks. This version goes from a hard hitting club bassline, to a almost glitch hop breakdown, and then resurrected back to its uptempo slimy techno. GET WEIRD.
Rolling along into the new year, CONTROL brings you a colossal lineup this week @ the Avalon. We welcome back the breakbeat monster duo Stanton Warriors, along with big room terror Bassjackers all the way from the Netherlands. Making his CONTROL debut will the rising gun and GDD favorite Clockwork, along with closing support from Hogwash and our own very BONES opening up the night. Make sure to RSVP and get there early! This event will reach capacity before midnight.
RSVP: To get on our GDD discount list please email RSVP@gottadancedirty.com before 5pm on Friday.
$10 before 10pm | $15 before 11pm
To kick things off for my residency @ the infamous Dim Mak Studios (aka Dim Mak Tuesdays) in 2012, I have created a new mixtape to get you all hyped for the year to come. I’ve packed it with several of the artists that DMS has hosted and some of the upcoming talent, as well as some of my own forthcoming releases and friends too! So grab ahold of the new year with this boomer, and I hope to see you all on Tuesdays @ Dim Mak Studios.
Trev and I are back on Dirty Duty for the 57th round of The Dirt. As the year comes to a close, I know I can speak on behalf of the entire GDD family that we are so stoked to be able to spread such great dance music to all corners of the globe (and a big thanks to EVERYONE we’ve seen throughout the year wearing our GDD apparel). This week, BONES dishes out some amazing house cuts, and I’ve snuck in a couple songs that I’ve just finished that I hope you enjoy.
It’s Dirt #52 and we’ve spent the last 45 hours painstakingly selecting the following 45 tracks for you, dear reader, because we know nothing else. I truly don’t understand how Burn Unit finds these ultra rare gems but they’re all there, zipped up in all their glory. I, on the other hand, have successfully burnt the Spotify application into both my computer screen and retina from staring at it for so long.
Detboi’s 2nd Album Curse Of The Drums Vol. 2 was recently been released on Herve’s label Cheap Thrills. It is a party box of very eclectic jams, and I couldn’t of described it better in one sentence than across the pond via UK BASS REVIEWS:
Detboi truly showcases his immense production talents with 9 tracks spanning a multitude of genres and styles, ranging from the deep jacking tech house grooves of ‘Partys Zipped Up’ to jazzy funky disco vibes of ‘Freaky Nights’ and touching bass on everything in between.
My personal favorite tracks on the album are ‘Party’s Zipped Up’ and ‘Pick It Up.’ ‘Party’s Zipped Up’ has a great midget house vibe, with tribal drums and bouncey samples that roll it along too well. ‘Pick It Up’ is a (Busta Rhymes) vocal led 2-step garage groove with an energetic bouncy acid bassline– perfect for those late ones. In its entirety, there’s something on this album for everyone and is truly a diverse reflection on all things DRUMS.
The weather in LA might be getting cold, but you better believe the VERSUS party keeps getting HOT. This week, we’re proud to welcome London Dungeon all the way from Denver, Colorado. The rocky mountain based duo have been residents for Beatport and Beta (voted #1 EDM nightclub in the US) along with support on almost every top billing event in the mile high city. Also gracing the decks will be the OC-based wizard Kedd Cook, rising phenoms Market Price, and local heroes The KiD (Mad Decent, Shifty Rhythms) and Divine Elite. I can’t express the variety of great music thats gonna be heard this Thursday, you’re honestly are gonna have to come and witness for yourself. Things are gonna get real serious.
The San Francisco based Chris Harnett & David Carvalho aka White Noize are back at it again with more pounding pounding… DISCO music? The veteran Dj duo have just released their next EP on DJ Dan’s InStereo Recordings called WEEKEND IN CALIFORNIA, featuring “Honey Love” and “Big Bright Lights.” WhiteNoize are known for digging up old disco classics and reviving them with club electro, fidget, and tech-house body parts. Their “big room disco” sounds have earned them top rankings on Beatport several times, not to mention the support of favorites Duck Sauce, DJ Dan, Donald Glaude, TJR, Stonebridge, Mustard Pimp, Treasure Fingers, and Umek (just to name a few.) These tracks are serious must haves for any DJs club sets, especially all you funky steppers out there. Check out the EP below, as well as the upcoming “Turn This Mutha Out” and a FREE download of their Cobra Starship Remix!
