Jessica Wilde’s vocals & stylish co-production (with Tough Love) shine bright on her genre bending Pop/Electro Soul/DnB debut. Flexin’ that UK flair!

The Hospital Records crew has been making moves over to our side of the pond with the opening of their new LA office, and a new residency for their worldwide club event – Hospitality – launching on Wednesday, September 10th at The Complex in Glendale. In celebration of this, we’ve locked in Fred V & Grafix for a special Hospital Records edition of our guest mix series. The Exeter-based duo has built a strong rep for their dnb sound with live performances and releases like their debut album, Recognise, that dropped earlier this year. Now they’ve given us this guest mix that’s filled to the brim with jams from Logistics, London Elektricity, Camo & Krooked, a healthy offering of their own tunes, and more. Enjoy below and head out to see Fred V & Grafix headline the LA Hospitality launch in September.
Straight off of DNB heavyweight Hospital Records, the UK native Metrik delivers “Want my Love” – featuring the anthemic vocals of Elisabeth Troy atop an energetic lead and rolling bassine. With a minimal drop, the vocals soar over the beats creating a sing along anthem and dance floor smasher.
The single just dropped yesterday and has been receiving support across the board – not to mention it’s recent exclusive debut on Annie Macs BBC Radio 1 show. With Metrik’s debut album nearing completion, this is a strong taste of whats to come ahead of release later this year. Listen below and pick it up today on iTunes and Beatport!
Today we have an exclusive premiere straight from the UK Underground! Out on September 23rd on the famed MTA Records is the newest EP from British duo Torqux “So Divine” with vocals by Tiffani Juno. Joining the package is this rad remix by Jus Now, another duo who bring the flavors of both Trinidad AND Bristol to produce this fun, caribbean riddim inspired Drum’n’Bass. Hospital Records boss, High Contrast, has a knack for adding his uplifting Drum N Bass flair to songs you’d never expect. The most recent example of his aptitude shines is his forthcoming remix for popular UK trio, London Grammar, which will be released as part of the Strong EP on September 1st. High Contrast clings to London Grammar vocalist Hannah’s Florence Welch-like voice while upping the tempo and adding in soaring crescendos of percussion. If you haven’t, make sure to go back and have a listen to some of High Contrast’s older remixes like those for Adele or Calvin Harris. Nostalgiaaaa.
Out last month on Noisia‘s Division Recordings, the debut album from Neosignal is a force of nature. An interesting mix of glitch-hop, dubstep, techno and DnB, the 15 track LP is diverse yet tied together by the duo’s hardcore German aesthetic that is unequalled is sound or style. “Raum und Zeit,” which is german for ‘time and space’, already has support from the likes of Amon Tobin, Skrillex and Noisia and with no signs of slowing down it will be interesting to see what these guys come out with next. One thing is certain though, their live show is gonna be dope and I can’t wait to see them stateside!
Out on March 31st wth this newest ‘My Style” compilation on Dub Police, Subscape is proving that Dubstep is definitely not dead with his prime picks of the 35 freshest tunes. Our SF friends known as The M Machine have always had a knack for taking Pop songs and rendering them into their own vision. From their vicious remix of Lil Jon’s “I Do” as Pance Party to this most recent remix of Bruno Mars’ “Locked Out of Heaven,” the trio find a way to maintain the catchy sensibilities of the originals while providing a dollop of their style of Dance music on top. The guys take a glitchy, DnB direction with this remix released today on Atlantic Records, and I’m into it.
“The last time I recorded a drum & bass set it was on a cassette tape over 10 years ago. In 2012 i was finally able to return to my original love, dive into my old vinyl, and play some jungle: b2b with Eats Everything at Bestival, b2b with Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs at Secret Garden Party, and as a guest of Bachelors of Science at their monthly at Monarch in SF. For those of you who were not able to catch one of these rare pilgrimages back to my roots, I have recorded a special set just for you featuring a handful of my all time favorite records. Happy new year and I hope you enjoy!” – justin martin
YES. It’s here. The first volume of remixes for Justin Martin‘s unbelievable debut album, Ghettos & Gardens, has arrived. 6 tracks make up this first installment, with dirtybird family members Ardalan, French Fries, and Catz N Dogz trying their hand at 3 singles while Danny Daze, Dusky, and Bachelors of Science take the reins for another 3. With only 2+ months left in 2012, I can still safely say that Ghettos & Gardens is my pick for album of the year, and a whole new batch of remixes from this caliber of talent makes me so damned delighted. Pick up Volume 1 on Beatport October 3rd. √+
