Brighton’s aashton has solidified himself on my personal ‘ones to watch’ list as of late, boasting official remixes in 2013 for top labels Get Physical and Kitsuné along with an EP on the tasteful Body Work imprint. Next up in his release schedule is the Show You EP forthcoming on Loungin’ Recordings which puts aashton’s deeper House and Garage talents on display, with 2 originals and 2 remixes that round out one hell of a vibe.
Today we’re excited to share the second original from the release, “If I’d Known,” which teeters gracefully along the lines of deep and nu disco, with lighthearted synth work skipping nimbly underneath sexy sax riffs and emotive vocals that flip pitches for an effect that’s producing many feels over here. Have a listen below and check the rest of the EP & pre-order the 12″ here. √+
Our very own Tropicool has released his latest tape which might be his smoothest musical mosaic to date. Tropicool is known for his extensive and carefully curated tracklistings always curating a very special & intimate vibe with just the right amount of funk. This tape in particular transitions from funk, into piano driven sexy house, and ends with some very deep tones sure to have you swimming in your own puddle. Deeper than his previous work, but just as infectious, this one is perfect served with a whiskey and reserved for an intimate occasion. Enjoy responsibly.
Not being able to choose a favorite song from a quality remix package is a good problem to have. On the remix package for his latest song “Same Hearts” (featuring Bear Mountain), Pat Lok presents us with this most glorious of problems. The original is a dreamy, cosmic jam that straddles the line between Deep Disco & House while the remix package offers up a little bit of everything ranging from Indie Funk (Oxford) to Darkside Haus (Shelby Grey) to 80s Disco Funk (Ride The Universe…my personal favorite). And if that’s not enough for you, just ask the experts:
Goldroom: “really like RTU mix and Oxford’s, original is super fun and stands out with an original style”
Mighty Mouse: “love this, all versions great”
Drop Out Orchestra: “The Ride The Universe Remix is fun!”
Cosmo Baker: “Pat Lok does it again. A stomper.”
Cyclist: “Greatest song ever written”
So the experts all agree: Pat has a great package.

Coming off of a momentous 2013 including performances alongside some of his idols and an appearance on GDD’s Wide Awake Art Car at EDC Las Vegas, SURF AMBASSADOR HENDO enters the new year with a renewed vigor and refined vision for his career. In this mix, he brings us a diverse selection of new, old, and unreleased sun-soaked grooves that bring the heat. Check out the outstanding mix below, but before you jump in, here’s an important message from the man himself…
“As 2014 begins to unfold, I’ve decided to simplify a bit. I will be DJ-ing under the name Hendo come this Spring. This exclusive GDD™ Guest Mix is one of the last mixtapes I will do under the name Surf Ambassador Hendo. With a few songs in the works, some great future lineups, and a fresh twist on my mixing style, I’m really looking forward to spreading The Froth this year as I’m only just getting started…”
The LUXXURY Edit Series keeps on rockin’ & rollin’ with the latest edit of the overblown Eagles classic “Hotel California”. So what does someone like LUXXURY do with a track like “Hotel California”, a track that everyone has more than likely heard one too many times in their lifetime? He breathes new life into the track by adding some vocoders & Moroder-esque synth bass and takes the track to an entirely different + new cosmic level. On the title track of the new “All I Need” EP, Casino Gold made an interesting & bold choice to use the same song to sample from (“If This World Were Mine” by Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell) that Chris Malinchak used on “So Good To Me”, a song that reached #2 on the UK Singles Chart in 2013. While it’s a bold choice using the same song to sample, it is, after all, a classic song & it is Marvin Gaye. In the end, the gamble paid off & the track was featured in the leadoff spot of The Magician’s most recent Magic Tape #38. For those familiar with The Magician’s seminal mixtape series, you already know that being the lead track on a Magic Tape is a spot generally reserved for THE hottest new tracks. Past Magic Tape openers include “Do You Believe?” by Poolside, Plastic Plate’s remix of “Set Fire to the Rain” by Adele, “Gopherit” by Moon Boots & various sexy new releases by French Express bossman Perseus. The opening track on a Magic Tape is certainly something to be proud of.
The soulful & soaring Deep House sound of “All I Need” coupled with the more sunshine infused Deep Disco sounds of “Your Love” make this two-sider an absolute must have. House lovers & Disco lovers…dance floors & bedrooms – Casino Gold have created a crossover smash . Casino Gold, we like where you’re headed in 2014.
“All I Need” EP is out now via Perfect Driver Music (with an unbelievable remix package on the way!).
Melodie Mitchell is a talented producer from Edmonton whose latest venture is a Disco/Indie Dance project called Teletexxt. Teletexxt just released a bass heavy, 80s influenced rework of “Love Is Still Alive” by Kenna & the result is a seductive, deep disco gem. Love is definitely alive in the form of deep, slow burning lasers. Grab this Teletexxt freebie and feel the burn…
Our good buddy & hometown Orange County hero, Kedd Cook, just dropped off his newest single entitled ‘Don’t Talk, Listen‘ accompanied by a stellar winter mix. This kid crushes on the tables, knows how to throw quite the party, and we’re more stoked than ever that he’s starting to produce more. Flawless taste, some nice snares, and deep tones make this a truly special experience inside and out. Get lost in his curated oblivion of sounds.
