Once dubbed by the holy Pete Tong as “Brazil’s answer to Daft Punk,” the latin synth lords are at it again with almost an hour of music for the already famous Solé Bicycles: Fixtape Series. This tape in particular is a great collection of italio-disco with heavy synth chords, jazzy percussion, and funky basslines. I feel like I’m in a late 80s dancehall taking crazy pills and wearing pants that match the wallpaper in your grandma’s bathroom; which is a GREAT thing. As always, the production & selection onfthe mix is sublime. Thank you, The Twelves, we’re always itching for more.

The Golden Pony, two Brooklyn based afroed disco dons, recently released this acid disco take on the classic ‘Sound of Silence’ by Simon & Garfunkel. With acid riffs and deep grooves the duo has elevated one of my favorite songs to dancefloor worthy status throwing in a healthy dose of funk, because who doesn’t like that? Check out a few of their other remixes after the jump for more Golden Pony goodness.
In the world of blogging, time is measured in a much more restlessly eager way than the normal units of time we are accustomed to. In the regular world, when a person uses the phrase “at long last” or “it’s been ages”, years are usually associated with these terms. However, in the world of music blogs, a few short months of inactivity is equivalent to real life years of agony and despair. This can be chalked up to our insatiable appetites for new music. It’s that simple. The music lover always wants more & always wants it now.
Today, after TEN WHOLE MONTHS without releasing any new material, Chris Malinchak dropped a new track on us & an overwhelming sense of joy (and relief) filled my social media feeds. At long last, the amazing Mr. Malinchak released a new track today entitled “So Into You”. After releasing a string of timeless songs last year (“So Good to Me”, “If U Got It” & “These Dreams”), Chris Malinchak’s reputation as a young House music legend was solidified in the annals the blog world. And today his fans rejoice.
“So Into You” may not have the anthemic house feel of his more recent releases but this deep, liquid funk track (harking back to the funkier sounds of his “Hollywood” EP) surely does not disappoint. It’s another beauty & another freebie.
So with all of that, we say thank you, Chris…we’re so into you, too.
The San Francisco based POPGANG Records is pleased to announce “Morning Light”, the first single from bay area jackin’ balearic deep house producer Light Echo. Warm analog synths and vocoders drive the classic yet modern disco vibes of the release.. Additionally, The EP features a tropical B-side re-dub from Light Echo, an Indie Dance remix from POPGANG records bosses, Manics; and a blissed out deep cut from Fritz Carlton to close out the release. Listen below and pick up the EP today on Beatport!

The Luxxury Edit Series continues on today with track number 3 (out of 12) from the series featuring “The Sound of Silence” by Simon & Garfunkel. The entire series is beginning to take shape and the Simon & Garfunkel edit, in particular, has been one of the standouts. The Luxxury edit of “The Sound of Silence” was recently featured on two outstanding mixtapes: Goldroom – Verano Mix 2013 and Tronik Youth - Staring at The Sea Vol.3.
Luxxury takes the Simon & Garfunkel classic to new heights on this slo-mo disco edit. The track’s hypnotizing groove slowly builds & builds and right around the 3:20 mark it reaches soaring new levels. While the feel of the original track might have expressed feelings of isolation or lack of communication, the Luxxury edit gives the track a more spirited feel. Another wonderful take on the classics…

Perseus and his French Express label mates are no strangers to our weekly party in Miami, and the man in charge of the dynamic pack is back on the carpet at Bardot tonight alongside the trio of residents. After storming onto the scene late in 2011, the French Express name has found respect in the underground markets while also having that cross-over appeal that’s seemingly difficult to accomplish. Pre-sale tickets for tonight’s event are still available here. Continue Reading

GDD™ favs Mr. AC Slater and Ms. Anna Lunoe have turned out an absolutely stellar cover of J. Cole and Miguel’s recent hip-hop infused love ballad ‘Power Trip,’ and guess what? They’re releasing it for free. How nice of them.
It’s a bubbly and infectious house anthem that really takes a turn for the Trouble & Bass side of things around the halfway mark courtesy of Mr. AC. Truly the best of both of their worlds. Grab the download below and check out the original music video after the jump!
The LUXXURY Edit Series rolls on with an edit of the Foreigner classic “Urgent”. This is edit #2 in a series of 12. It’s a fantastic series which takes old favorites from classic artists and gives them a modern whirl without taking away any of the song’s timelessness (and without using too many overbearing modern production tricks). The theme of the LUXXURY Edit Series is to highlight the buried gold within the original multitracks. We all know “Urgent” as a slick, sax-rock jam but it’s the big, funky hidden-treasure-of-a bassline that helps breathe new life into the Foreigner classic. Who knew Foreigner would work so well as a daytime disco band? Our man LUXXURY did, that’s who. Cue the sunset…
