Central coast California producer Nathaniel Stevens, aka Ghostea, is a an excellent fit for the Perfect Driver Music crew. Perfect Driver are on a roll this year with a string of cutting edge, stylish & intelligent releases. Like their February release of “Got Em” by Lux Groove, Ghostea incorporates a much welcomed Breaks sound into his songs & the result is a refreshing new style that puts Perfect Driver well ahead of the curve.
The “Still Sippin” EP is full of deep, atmospheric breaks & smooth vocals (by Millie Mayz) and still packs a formidable punch. The “Still Sippin” EP is out now via Perfect Driver Music.
Sir, Pat Lok, the magician from the north west has delivered quite a beauty all too unique to pass up. This pitched down single featuring the vocals of alo. has all the bells and whistles to make you move a bit faster than, well, slow… Enjoy below.
Here we are in the 3rd week of WUKILEAKS — the 9 part bootleg download series brought to you by the talented and oh-so creative, Wuki. After setting his sights on Mystikal and Telefon Tel Aviv the past 2 weeks, the Colorado-based producer has now drifted into the Pop realm for his third giveaway, adding a booty-shaking, breaks vibe to Mariah Carey’s 2005 jam with Jermaine Dupri, “Shake It Off.” To be honest, I hadn’t heard the original from Mariah in years and this revamp from Wuki is currently bringing back some sweet, sweet high school memories for me. Download here and stream below! √+
Lux Groove returns with his second official release entitled “Got Em”. ”Got Em” is a head bobbin’, hand clappin’ piece of chunky house action. It’s bass heavy with a bit o’ breaks harking back to the early/mid-2000s when drums were king & acts like Plump DJs & Stanton Warriors dominated the Electro Breaks/Bass scene. Back then, every DJ from House to Progressive to Trance to Breaks would always try to work this style tune into their set. Lux Groove is bringing the style back big time, making it more modern & giving it an updated Booty drum sound. Get dirty on this one.
“Got Em” is out now via Perfect Driver Music.
Following up some ace releases on both Main Course and OWSLA in recent months, Denver-based Wuki has announced an all-new download series titled WUKILEAKS, where he’ll be giving away one bootleg a week for the next 9 weeks. He’s kicked off the project today with a breaky, techy rendition of one of my all time favorite high school freak dancing songs — Mystikal’s “Shake Ya Ass.” Give the dude a like on Facebook to get it for free and keep your eyes on GDD for all weekly episodes of WUKILEAKS.
Anna Lunoe is dominating right now. The slick remixes for her hit single are out (featuring remixes by Treasure Fingers, Cosmos Midnight, Danny T, Sleepy Tom & Wordlife). Her clothing line is fly. Her artwork is dope (I obviously haven’t updated my vernacular since “In Living Color”). And her new video for “Breathe” is a smashing success.
Today we’re featuring the ultra bad-ass Treasure Fingers remix of “Breathe”. Treasure Fingers flexes some serious dancefloor muscle with this booming Miami Bass/Freestyle remix. Serious pop n’ lock vibes.
Coming off of a big summer touring, Anabatic Records boss, Worthy, has put two tracks together for the Flashin EP that has been bumping across dancefloors for the past few months. The title track “Flashin” hits big with the 808s while the B-side, “Trinidad,” incorporates some steel drum vibes along with a sinister, deep bassline. The EP has already been biggup’d by an all-star crew including everyone from DJ Hell and Shadow Child to Brodinski and Zed’s Dead. Pick it up on Beatport today.
While I personally can’t stand to hear “Make That Booty Clap” one more time this year, there’s no denying the massive success it had across all genres of dance music in 2012. From Soul Clap to Skrillex, Kill Frenzy united the community with his rump-shaking masterpiece. Now, the Belgian follows up his debut EP on dirtybird with Go To The Mo — a 3-track EP which once again demonstrates Kill Frenzy’s ability to make dance music for all sorts. Bits of Breaks, Techno, Bass, and more can be heard throughout the 3 original productions, leading me to believe that Kill Frenzy has found a good home here in America with the eclectic dirtybird family. Go To The Mo is out today on Beatport and will be released worldwide on the 25th. √+ Continue Reading
As with many profound experiences, words cannot express the thoughts, feelings, and emotions that culminated from the 3-day fantasy land, Lightning in a Bottle. After attending, I realized what it was that motivates a company to be committed to “the highest levels of art, production, and aesthetic to always challenge people’s preconceived notions of reality and what is possible.” (website) There are countless festivals and music events in the world, but it is clear that Lightning in a Bottle is in a class of it’s own because of The Do LaB‘s determination to create an event that encompasses music, art, spirituality, and culture.

The UK teen duo, Bondax, put their smooth, groovin’ sound to AlunaGeorge‘s “You Know You Like It.” They’ve added a fresh, more up-beat feel to the track, which is quite suitable for the start of the weekend. Even Annie Mac would agree since she featured it on her show last week. So forget about everyone at EDC, and enjoy the great tune (and free DL) after the jump.
