GDD Guest Mix

After hearing his debut track, “FSK,” in late January, we immediately became fixated on the latest mystery producer out of the UK, Vails, and had to ask him to put together a guest mix for us that really illuminated his style and sound. Two weeks later, the guy sent back 48 minutes of electronic bliss, featuring a range of electronica aimed at the heart of sophisticated dance music enthusiasts. Vails included two of his originals in the guest mix — the aforementioned “FSK” as well as his forthcoming release on Fool’s Gold, “Beaster.” Download it below. √+

We’re pretty elated to have the lovely Gina Turner take over for this week’s GDD™ Guest Mix. International DJ, producer, and most recently labelhead of the newly founded TURNIT Records, Gina has always had a knack for finding a true balance between the deep and the big — a difficult feat for many DJs, however easy it may sound. Just this week, Gina and her husband Luke released their 6th original production titled “Diga Me” together under the Nouveau Yorican moniker, and in proper Gina/Luke style, the EP features a Deep Mix (for Gina) and a Main Mix (for Luke). She’s included both in the mix below, along with a myriad of top tunes from Claude VonStroke, Prince Club, Justin Martin & Eats Everything, as well as a topical conclusion featuring some love jams to get you Valentine’s Day-ready. Dig in. √+

The Florida resident and very promising Dirtybird talent, Mark Starr, comes through with an excellent guest mix that’ll put your cranked up subwoofers to work. Upon listening, you’ll find that he included an eclectic array of his own originals, special edits, and of course some other infectiously groovy tracks to round out the booty bass masterpiece. With two forthcoming remixes of Kill Frenzy’s “Booty Clap” due out on Dirtybird, as well as an original called “Rood Boy,” due out on the Dirtybird Players Club compilation this year, Mark Starr certainly has quite a bit to look forward to this year as a fresh face on the scene. Don’t sleep on this one.

Even though Winter is in full force, there’s no reason why we can’t keep warm with half an hour of disco heaters from the Finnish groove specialist Lenno. Although he’s still a teenager, he has proven again and again that he can keep up with more established artists regardless of whether it’s behind the decks or in the studio. Lenno’s impeccable taste for body movin’ beats shines through as bright as ever in this guest mix. It has almost been a full year since his very well-received GDD NYE party mix, but he continues to keep things fresh.
