TheFatRat is no stranger to these parts and it was only natural to feature him in a proper GDD™ Spotlight. We have his brand new logo (pictured above) and an awesome 1-hour mix, which he was so kind to do for us, that contains the premiere of the full FatRat remix of Martin Solveig’s “The Night Out,” and plenty of other excellent tracks ranging from disco to dubstep (tracklist after the jump).
Also, the blogosphere has been well acquainted with his music and some brief information about him, but we have an in-depth interview that discusses reasons behind his anonymity, his production tools, application of the Karma Sutra, something that has made the biggest impact on his life today, and much much more. Not only are we giving you an exclusive inside look into the personality of TheFatRat & a mix for your listening pleasure, but we also have him booked for his live world premiere at our VS party in Santa Monica on Thursday (4/5). If you are in the LA area, you best be there. Now, head after the jump for the interview, check out the mix, and download it for free by clicking the “Buy” button on the Soundcloud player!
Michael Ullman and Julien Benichou, or Bastille, have been featured numerous times here on GDD™ since our humble origins in 2008, so as their careers have developed and their catalog of productions and remixes increased, I felt it necessary to get in touch with the boys and hear about what they’ve been up to firsthand. As I found out, Julien and Michael have been busy DJing around the country while balancing college, and to top it off, they’ve just come out with a new single, ‘One Night Love Affair,’ that we might just hear Alain and Armand playing out in the near future.

Steve Huerta, formally known as GO FUNK URSELF, is a rising star in the LA Deep and Tech House scenes. A UCSB alum, Steve is no stranger to us here at GDD™, and was previously featured with Yooj for the track “On One.” We caught up with him one sunny afternoon to discuss production, crossing genres, and of course, his beverage of choice.

The year was 2010. A creepy, crawly song was climbing the Beatport charts, and House DJs around the world were supporting this arachno-tune that seemed to fit into any set. Pleasurekraft‘s ‘Tarantula’ had spun its web throughout the entire dance music community, before receiving ‘Best Tech House Track’ at the Beatport awards in Miami that following March. With handfuls of extremely well-produced originals and remixes as well as a global tour schedule since then, we thought it’d be good to catch up with Kalle and Kaveh of Pleasurekraft before their set tonight at Playhouse in Hollywood.

Jon Pegnato, known to the dance music community as Hot Mouth, is a class act. After a recent separation with LA Riots toward the end of 2011, Jon breathed life back into his solo project and pumped air into his blow-up doll — ready to take on 2012. After just signing a residency at Moon at the Palms in Vegas, joining up with George Karalexis and Faux Entertainment, and becoming a member of the Liaison Artists family only in the past month, I felt the urge to catch up with Jon and hear all about the plans for Hot Mouth.
Read on after the jump to hear about the Hot Mouth ethos, Jon’s perfect Coachella lineup, upcoming collaborations, and the first edition of Hot Mouth mixtapes exclusive to GDD™. Continue Reading
It was the beginning of October, and remixes for Crazy P‘s ‘Changes’ began to surface. Amongst the plethora of good renditions that I heard, one stood out more than any other, and it was from a Bristol artist that I had never come across before — Lukas. As I usually do when I find good new music from an unfamiliar moniker, I check back catalogs, social media sites, etc., and after going about this with Lukas I wanted to know more. So I reached out across the Atlantic to see what this producer was up to, and it turned out to be a lot more than I thought!

I’m sure many of you have seen the name Clockwork before. Whether it was on GDD™, Hype Machine, or on the winner’s list of multiple big time remix competitions, it is pretty apparent that this young lad has made some waves in Electroland in the past year. Originally from LA, now transplanted in NYC, Henry Steinway (Clockwork) is on the rise in the world of Electro, but he doesn’t want to bore you with 2008 sidechaining and heard-that-before bangers. His unique take on the over-saturated genre ostracizes his music from the repetition that we are all getting a bit sick of.
I got a chance to chat a bit with Henry about some exciting upcoming releases and his recent Dem Slackers remix competition win as well as his stance on Electro and where he sees it going from here. We were also lucky enough to snag a GDD™ Exclusive mixtape from Clockwork featuring a handful of unreleased and exclusive tracks, so make sure you grab that with the interview after the jump.
