As this summer’s festival season comes to an end, Symbiosis Gathering looks to offer its patrons something they might not have gotten at some of their more commercial counterparts. The year of the Water Snake identifies this year’s ‘gathering’ in Oakdale, California, setting the mood through some iconic serpent mythology. In some cultures a snake represents an umbilical chord, joining all humans with Mother Earth. As snakes shed their skin they bring about images of rebirth and transformation, and in Hindu mythology they come to symbolize freedom for their untamable nature. Continue Reading
Over the past two years, I’ve had the pleasure of attending The Do LaB‘s famed transformational festival known as Lightning in a Bottle, and each time it was truly an indescribable experience unlike any other. With new dates falling in the heat of Summer and an unfamiliar venue situated in a desert environment, this year’s festival underwent a significant amount of change in certain aspects, but its fundamental anatomy remained as artistic, conscious, purposeful, and spiritually vibrant as ever – exceeding my expectations and providing for yet another phenomenal weekend.
Through hosting an extensive lineup of some of the most in-demand musicians, DJs, speakers, yoga instructors, and artists, among many other performers and participants, Lightning in a Bottle has once again exemplified why it has gained such prestige as a world-class event that draws thousands from far and wide. After the jump, I’ll run through my thoughts on the new venue/atmosphere, my top 3 performances, late-night happenings, other highlights, and some photos to give you a better visual perspective of the festival.
As the temperatures rise, so does our anticipation for HARD Summer Music Festival. In preparation for the incredibly eclectic lineup, HARD has created a mixtape series for the younger guns on the billing called the Future Stars Mini-Mix series. Leading things off is the Colorado native and bass-driven producer Paper Diamond, chunking out 30 minutes of high energy turn up and get down. Listen below and let the countdown to HSMF begin…

As the Indio dust is finally settling from two weeks of wind, heat and wild spirits across the polo fields, we look back at our favorite moments of this years Coachella Music Festival. With a staggering artist lineup each day making it almost impossible to catch every set we wanted to see, the most memorable performances are all that stand alone from such an incredible experience in the desert. Here are the “best of the fest” we have to give royalty to… Continue Reading
This year our favorite festival has a very special addition that we are all very excited to experience. The Yuma Stage is a new feature at Coachella that is stacked with some of the top DJs and legends of the deep house scene. To some this is probably everything you have dreamed of; while to others the names and the music might be unfamiliar. Not to worry though because I have crafted a mix that hopes to encapsulate the vibes played throughout the Yuma the next two weekends. Take a listen to prepare yourself for Coachella’s newest stage. It’s going to be a glorious two weeks!
It’s hard to believe that Coachella is now hours upon us. The annual desert frolic is one of our favorite festivals in the world, and lucky for us it’s right in our backyard. We have to commend Goldenvoice in a big way for this year’s bookings, as it seems like they’ve generally strayed from the widely acceptable cheesy bookings (like last year) and gone a bit more toward the edge. We at GDD™ have collectively come up with our top 5 picks per day, along with 3 honorable mentions as it was nearly impossible to only choose 5 acts. Check our must see list below, and we’ll see you out in the desert this weekend! Continue Reading
Our friends at HARD are putting on one hell of a stage this August at HARD Summer here in Los Angeles — celebrating a decade of music from the lauded Ed Banger family with performances from Justice, Busy P, Breakbot, Feadz, Mr. Oizo, So Me, and more for the only US performance of the 10 Year Anniversary World Tour. WOW.
Southern California’s finest sun-drenched 3-day mega festival is right around the corner. We have all either heard the epic tales about the marvelous party in the desert, or better yet, experienced the magic ourselves. This year the lineup is tip-top, and we’re so excited to go dance around in the colorful desert with all of our friends, that we’ve decided to team up with Caliche Rum and give away 2 pairs of tickets!
Rules For Entry:
1. Take an epic sunset photo
2. Upload the photo & Tag @Calicherum, @GottaDanceDirty, #Setsforsets, on your Facebook/twitter/instagram accounts.

After electronic music broke out into one of its most pivotal years in 2012, expectations for what’s next have been through the roof. With the start of the new year, all eyes were on HARD‘s festival cruise aka Holy Ship. The staggering lineup that Gary Richards (Destructo) procured took many of the biggest names from across the board and set them out into the middle of the Atlantic ocean to kick off 2013. But why was it different than any other festival? Sure, it went from cruise ship to island hopping and back again, boasting an all-star roster – but how was that gonna set the tone for the year?
Never underestimate the power of friendship. Cheesy, I know, but for the sake of dance music and live performances, it’s what’s gonna save this year from being another circuit of the same festivals with the same stage lineups and the same sets…
