San Francisco

Happy Valentine’s Day from all of us at Gotta Dance Dirty™; we love each and every one of you. This week, we have a very special 18+ giveaway going on our facebook page to see Bart B More, Nisus, and myself at the infamous Rickshaw Stop in San Francisco. Mr. van der Meer played to a jam-packed Control last Friday so do not sleep on this opportunity to see the Dutchman at one of my favorite venues in San Francisco.

Our facebook giveaway ends Tuesday night and if you want to play it safe, tickets are still available at Blasthaus. Hopefully you’ve taken the initiative and become a facebook fan, but if not, this contest and the pair of tickets that I just gave away to HARD Weekend in Oakland should be reason enough.

Alright dirty dancers, for our third installment of HARD Fresh Meat Mondays, we’re proud to present the first part of a very special DJ set, recorded in London in November 2010 at SMD’s Delicatessen warehouse party. To celebrate the launch of their “Delicacies” album, SMD DJed with friends & family, and they’ve carefully cut three hour long segments from their set, and we’re going to be presenting these exclusively in the weeks to come. You can listen here exclusively on GDD™ and then download from the Hardfest site, from the link below. Also, grab your tickets to HARD Weekend coming up in March before it’s too late!

To kick start the mountain of EDM events to come this year, GDD™ has been given the exclusive weekly on something special. Simian Mobile Disco and HARD have teamed up to bring you new tracks from the band’s private reserve each monday leading up to HARD weekend. (Of course it was only fashionable to get started a day late the first week, but this giveaway is worth the wait…) First up, we have for you the full length track “Fugu” from SMD’s brand new album Delicacies.

The giveaways continue here at Gotta Dance Dirty™ as we gear up for a month packed with events. This Thursday night in San Francisco, catch a DJ set from the notorious Jesse F. Keeler of Death From Above 1979 and MSTRKRFT fame at Mighty with support from homies Nisus and Shane King. You might want to grab your tickets before this one sells out, but if you’re feeling lucky, check out our giveaway over on our facebook page. Stay tuned for more giveaways for The Twelves, Dada Life, Bart B More, and more!

Death From Above 1979 – Sexy Results (MSTRKRFT Edition)

JFK remixes JFK! Some long-time readers might be turning your noses at me for posting this obvious classic, but newer readers need to know what’s up. Believe me when I say every time the DJ dropped this disco ****jam back in the day (and by ‘the day’ I mean 2005), things would start getting X-rated on the dancefloor. Still one of my favorite songs ever.

Things have been a little slow this month in San Francisco (though the weather may be nice), but you Bay Area dirty dancers should brace yourselves for an awesome month of events and giveaways here at Gotta Dance Dirty™. To start things off, Scion and Hacksaw Entertainment present the First Annual Electric Ball at the Mezzanine this Friday. The double-header features the Kabuki-masked The Toxic Avenger and Dim Mak’s Autoerotique alongside some familiar faces like blasthaus’ Nisus and EPR’s B33son. As for the pair of tickets I usually giveaway to shindigs such as these, I’ll hold this next month’s worth of giveaways on facebook. Unfortunately, we already have a winner but pre-sales are still available. Be sure to follow us on facebook and stay tuned for giveaways to JFK, the Twelves, Bart Bmore, and many more.

• Autoerotique- Bubonic

• The Toxic Avenger – ANGST:ONE (Kid 606 Remix)

We’ve given away plenty of great tickets this year to the faithful readers of Gotta Dance Dirty™, but never have I had the opportunity to give away tickets to a sold out show like this one. If you haven’t bought your tickets to see Bassnectar and Eskmo already this Saturday at Fox Theatre in Oakland, you’ll be bummed to know that the show is sold out. On the other hand, you, the savvy reader and Bassnectar fanatic, will be pleased to know that I can make one pair of tickets available at will call. I want to make sure the winner of these tickets is not only a long time reader of our blog, but a huge Bassnectar fan as well.

The challenge, should you choose to accept, will be to email me at tronjeremy at gottadancedirty.com before 7:00 pm tonight both a linked photo (no attachments please) to a piece of Bassnectar swag, whether it be a record sleeve or an old ticket stub, and a brief story about the first time you started reading our humble blog.

Or, if you dropped the ball on buying tickets for a loved one as a holiday gift, tell me about that instead.

The most touching story wins the prize, the winner to be announced via Twitter. Good luck dirty dancers and Happy Holidays from all of us at the dirtiest (music) blog on the intertubes.

PS Get there early because his set is from 9:00 to 11:45.

Today is the start of a big week for LA-via-Boston duo Valerna, whose first release on Cold Blank’s Burn the Fire label featuring Control resident Mr. White is out today and remix of Pola-Riot available Thursday. My fellow disco aficionados shouldn’t sleep on “Think It Over” and no Valerna release is complete without a crunchy banger with a silly name like “I Wish I Had Dog Feet”.
