CRSSD Festival just keeps upping the ante. Today, they’ve teamed up with the popular file sharing service WeTransfer to give away a bunch of free music. The bundle features mixes from Seth Troxler, Simian Mobile Disco b2b Roman Flugel, J.Phlip, Pete Tong, DJ Harvey, Giraffage and SNBRN, as well as Seth Troxler‘s Meatloaf Recipe. In addition to this gleaming gift comes the announcement of single day ticket sales. The tickets start at $75, which is extremely generous considering the all-start lineup. See you in San Diego!
A collaboration between Christopher Kristoff and the San Diego-based DJs Mikey Lion, Lee Reynolds, Marbs, and Porkchop, along with the recent member, Andy Crane, has yielded the stand-out festival known as Desert Hearts, which has been heralded as “One of the best electronic music experiences in America” by Resident Advisor. Desert Hearts was established as a community-oriented house and techno gathering with the goal of achieving a memorable energetic ambiance, while maintaining high musical integrity – and from what I’ve heard, they do just that + more.
After a massively successful 1 year anniversary, they return for their Spring festival that features world-class headline artists like Tim Green, DJ T, Matthew Dekay, Droog, Christian Martin, and a plethora of the finest local talent including Tara Brooks, Eduardo Castillo, Jon Dadon, Kevin Anderson, and of course, the Desert Hearts DJs, amongst others (listed above). With this fantastic group of artists behind the decks, one can be sure that there will be proper house and techno bumping through Funktion-One sound systems all weekend long. Check out the video after the jump to get a visual for the Desert Hearts vibe, and be sure to grab your tickets here to experience this intimate gathering first hand. We’ll see you there!
Harvard Bass says in life you must “Stay True”… to who you are. And in this case “Stay True” to the music you live and love and then release it on a label that has never wavered.
After slaving away in the studio this year, our friend and favorite Victor Hugo aka Harvard Bass is set to release his debut album STAY TRUE this Monday, November 25th. It was a no-brainer for him to choose Relief Records as it’s home, the Chicago-based label owned by techno legend Green Velvet (whom he has collaborated with on ‘Lazer Beams’, ‘Kickin It’, ‘Sinkhole’ and his forthcoming ‘Bucket Boys’).
Starting tonight in San Diego, Harvard Bass kicks off a series of parties to celebrate the album dropping next week. Each party is planned to have several of his friends and special guests play sets, which is making for some exciting lineups all weekend long. The best part – ALL PARTIES ARE FREE!
In just nine days from now, thousands will embark on a journey to a place unlike any other, The Do LaB‘s Lightning in a Bottle. The excellent music, beautiful art, spiritually cleansing yoga, and educational speakers are all to be enjoyed to the fullest at one of my favorite festivals that takes place at the beautiful Oak Canyon Ranch. After attending last year’s LIB, it’s difficult to put to words what my incredible experience was like, but I can assure you that you will be more than happy to have been a part of something much different than your typical music festival. With a well-rounded, eclectic lineup including the legendary Bassnectar, and dozens of other big names/underground acts, I can already tell it’s going to be too much fun going from set to set. Grab your tickets with the link below, check out a video/pictures from last year, and the LIB 2012 mixtape contest winner after the jump!
October 8th marks a monumental event with some of the absolute biggest names in electronic music descending upon Southern California all in the same day. The Club Life College Invasion tour featuring Tiesto, Diplo (just added), Dada Life, & Porter Robinson is coming to the Home Depot Center. A mix of thoroughly established veterans and impressive young talent makes this a must-see show. There are discount tickets for students (w/ ID), so for all of you young ones, there really is no excuse not to go. Regardless, I’d grab a ticket now before it’s too late!
We have a tremendous amount of respect for our boy TJR over here at GDD™. FUNKY VODKA √+ Be on the lookout for TJR’s upcoming release ‘Funky Vodka,’ coming out on Chris Lake’s label Rising Music. It is by far my favorite track of the summer and has be receiving a ton of great feedback from the likes of Benny Benassi, Chuckie, Nom De Strip, Chris Lake, Umek, Designer Drugs, Claude Vonstroke, Mightyfools, and LA Riots (just to name a bunch).
As summer chugs along and the dog days approach the temperature only continues to rise out here on the Best Coast. Expect a massive heat wave to hit this Thursday though as the mad Belgian scientists known as Mumbai Science descend upon the Mile High City to start their mini 2011 Summer Tour that will see them lighting up clubs from the Rockies to the Bay to the Border as they drop festival firestarters like ‘Ancova‘ & ‘Gold‘ in intimate venues like our very own Versus (August 4th!)
Having the chance to see this rising act, that now routinely plays for 1000s, in relatively small venues is an experience and opportunity you probably won’t have again as their ascent to stardom continues, so make sure you get yo’ tickets for one of these 7 gigs while you can! Along the way they’ll be getting support from longtime GDD™ backed Canadian John Roman, Aussie insane-asylum-escapees Bareback DJ’s, the lovely Brazzabelle, our very own ///BONES and various local talent in each city. More details including dates and ticketing links (and some tunes) after the jump! Oh and if you don’t remember our interview/mix with Mumbai, peep it over here!

Being that it is where I’m from, you should all know that GDD loves Colorado. Especially its unique taste in music genres and the epic EDM groups that have come out of there over the years; SAVOY and Pretty Lights just to name a few. However, there is a new presence to be aware of coming straight out of Boulder, CO known as Robotic Pirate Monkey. Formed in early 2010, R.P.M. consists of the B-Town trio of Matt Berryhill, Matt Flesher and Andrew Hathaway (aka. Hathbanger). Since forming R.P.M. has grown their fan base from local to statewide, as the next big up and comers on the Colorado electronic music scene and now they have the chance to prove their weight in the Golden State. For six weeks in May and June, R.P.M. will be cruising around the great state of California, bringing their Rocky Mountain bass to the West Coast. With opening support from THiCK CHiCK and Skywalkerr, R.P.M. announces their Buried Treasure Tour with 12 stops along the West Coast (including a stop at our VERSUS party on the 19th of May) – check ’em out below:
May 9 – Dragonfly – Santa Monica, CA May 14 – Blue Fin – Monterey, CA May 16 – Shattuck Down Low – Berkeley, CA May 19 – VERSUS @ CENTRAL – Los Angeles, CA May 22 – Jamabalaya – Humboldt, CA May 26 – Velvet Jones – Santa Barbara, CA June 1 – Tiki Bar – Costa Mesa, CA June 2 – Ocean Bar – Manhattan Beach, CA June 3 – CONTROL @ Avalon – Hollywood, CA June 7 – A/C Lounge – San Diego, CA June 8 – Moitav – San Luis Obispo, CA June 11 – Fulton SS – Fresno, CA
