With new festivals spawning in all corners of the United States and abroad, it’s easy for an event to fly under the radar, but San Diego’s CRSSD Festival harnessed our attention with its outstanding music programming, gorgeous venue, and more. After an anxious few months, the long-awaited festival finally descended upon the bay front park, and thousands upon thousands attended to experience a summery soirée helmed by some of the world’s finest producer/DJs and musicians like Maceo Plex, Chromeo, Hot Natured, Robert Delong, GDD™ homies Thomas Jack, Viceroy, Bixel Boys, and SNBRN, amongst others. By now, you’ve probably heard that CRSSD Festival was a great success, but in our minds, it was the perfect way to kick off festival season.
Hear about our experiences on each day after the jump.
A couple of years ago, I attended Lucidity Festival for the first time, and ever since, I’ve wanted to return for its eclectic music programming, vibe, art, and down-to-earth crowd that prefers an intimate experience. Just last week, Lucidity announced its 2015 lineup, months after selling out of the initial “Early Owl” passes, and it’s looking like it will be another fantastic 3-day weekend run from April 10-12 in Santa Barbara. Headliners such as The Polish Ambassador, Thriftworks, and Fort Knox Five hold down the bass music front on the Lucid Stage, while Elephant Revival and Dirtwire grace the Alive stage, along with other stand out underground and local talent scattered throughout.
In addition to the Lucid and Alives stages, the Nomad stage, curated by Santa Barbara’s Music Is Love, rounds out the bill with an on-point selection of house, techno, and some more bass music. Artists like Doorly, dirtybird’s Christian Martin, Pumpkin, Perfect Driver affiliates Wood Holly and Ballast, Trevor Kelly, Bix King, A La Mode, and a couple of our own, The Interns, will man the decks on that stage throughout the Lucidity weekend. To highlight the Nomad stage, we’ve put together a music-focused showcase of select artists from its lineup to get you ready for what’s to come.

If you’re at all aware of the Dirtybird crew (you should be), you’re more than likely aware of the various Dirtybird BBQ events they have been throwing over the past months. These shows have done wonders in combining the friendly atmosphere and bouncing bass the label has become so known for. Brooklyn, Detroit, Toronto, San Francisco, and now Los Angeles for HARD Day Of The Dead where they will be taking over an entire stage. Full preview after the jump!

Sultan of Summer. Dance Music’s Jimmy Buffett. Mayor of Vibestown. Whatever you wanna call Viceroy, it’s clear that he has home field advantage at any summertime pool party, and Splash House in Palm Springs is the homecoming game. Round 2 of this summer’s poolside soiree is coming up quick (August 8th-10th), so we wanted to check in with our pal Viceroy in a little different way — with the Hawaiian shirt honcho responding to our inquiries only in the form of GIFs.
Get some laughs below and pick up your tickets to Splash House here!
Bonus Round: cultivate the finest #Splashvibes with our recommended playlist for the weekend here.
Last weekend, the GDD™ crew took off to Palm Springs for the 2nd annual poolside festival, Splash House, where the grooviest of DJs converged for a weekend of sun-soaked tunes spanning across three venues — The Saguaro (where we spent most of our time), Hacienda, and the Hard Rock Hotel. With hundreds of Angelenos making the short drive on the 10E, Splash House proved that a summertime pool festival is not just a good idea, it’s a GREAT one. Big ups to LED and Goldenvoice for putting on a successful weekender. There’s no doubt that GDD will be back for every Splash House in the future.

It’s going to be a long HARD Summer this year if Gary Richards and Co.’s new lineup trailer is any indication of the debauchery that will ensue come August 2 & 3. With Jack U (Skrillex + Diplo) as the main characters, the scene is set as the super duo set out to find their “schtick” with the help of Grandma Skrillex. It’s soon discovered that anything on top of your head goes as a motley crew of DJ’s assemble, including Richards, Justin Martin, and Kill The Noise. Everything turns sour, though, as Dillon Francis realizes his pals Diplo and Skrillex have stolen his Strawberry concept and only A-Trak can console… Peep the full video below and take a gander at a lineup that just about scratches any possible Electronic Music itch you might have. The Babe Report: Desert Discoveries for WKND 2
(Welcome back to another killer guest post from none other than Babe in Residence, Miss Victoria Geil herself)
WE 3 BABES made it back alive to Los Angeles out of the desert. We survived a sandstorm, several marriage proposals, and midnight hikes out of the venue. We had a marvelous time, so marvelous that I’m finding myself tempted to reappear for Weekend 2 ;D
