Santa Cruz-based Vital Events, who earlier this year assembled an all-star lineup of Nero, Skrillex, Datsik, and 12th Planet under one roof, is bringing dubstep godfathers Skream and Benga alongside drum ‘n’ bass lord Sub Focus to San Jose on Thursday, June 23rd. Early bird tickets went on sale last Saturday, but if you’d like to try your luck at a pair on us, then fire up your Facebook and Twitter accounts and read these directions carefully.
Facebook: Like Gotta Dance Dirty and Vital SC on Facebook? Good. Tag us both in a Facebook post and let us know who you’re most excited to see.
One lucky contestant will be randomly selected from both the Facebook and Twitter posts with the winner declared in one week. Now, if you aren’t sold on the idea of seeing these three heavy-hitters in action, then bear witness to Skream and Benga as Magnetic Man for their US debut as a group this year at Coachella.
Truth be told, I’m pretty overdue for a post, but just when I was about to serve up a couple of new remixes from France’s Lifelike, I took notice of a Swedish producer by the name of Le Prix that he was following on SoundCloud. Safe to say that if you’re a Lifelike fan, you’re going to love Le Prix. Listen to his latest remix and his new EP after ze jump. Continue Reading
Better late than never but apologies to those of you who were anxiously awaiting The Dirt #28 this weekend. The good news is that none other than Porter Robinson gave me a hand with this (last?) week’s edition, carefully picking his ten must-listen tracks for our readers to indulge. Porter’s selections are accompanied by a detailed review of each track, giving us an in-depth look into the music and sounds that inspire his ground-breaking style of electro. Gotta Dance Dirty™ proudly presents The Dirt #28 featuring Porter Robinson right after the jump. Continue Reading
Gotta Dance Dirty: First, I’d like to thank you both for taking a minute of studio time to chat, I understand it’s been a rough night. It’s a tradition here at Gotta Dance Dirty™ that if the first drinks are on us, then what’ll it be? Filip Nikolic: Hmmm…mescal is our favorite drink. Do you have some?
GDD: It depends, with or without the worm? FN: No-worm mezcal Vida by Del Maguey. Continue Reading
Fresh from the slopes of the Snowball Festival, Miami Horror returns to the Mezzanine in San Francisco for a near-sold out live performance this Thursday night, with support from Reporter and locals Boyz IV Men and DJ Eli Glad. If you’re reading this now, hopefully you’ve joined over 10,000 dirty dancers in ‘Liking’ our facebook page, where I’m giving away a pair of tickets to your choice of Miami Horror or Friday night’s HARD Weekend event in Oakland. So far, more readers are gunning for those HARD tickets so if you’re over 21 and want to see Miami Horror live on us, ‘Like’ us on facebook and leave us a comment here.
Today is the first day of March, a month that is going to be packed with some awesome events, a long-awaited Spring mixtape from contributor aRod, and yes, you guessed it, more giveaways! If you’ve been current with our facebook page, you would have seen that I’m giving away a pair to see longtime GDD favorites Harvard Bass and Nadastrom (comprised of Moombahton megalord Dava Nada and Matt Nordstrom) this Saturday at Mighty in San Francisco, presented by our friends at Blasthaus. If you haven’t entered already, it’s not too late. Keep your eyes peeled readers; I’ll be giving away tickets to Miami Horror, HARD Weekend, and more!
What you know about Shook? Is he really from a cave in Antarctica or the land of portamento saws and massive 808s? I investigated further and learned that as much as his sound belongs in France, he is actually from the Netherlands. Shook is finishing up his second EP and has been getting support from the likes of Breakbot and Kavinsky. He’s only released one remix this year (featured below) so I’ll go ahead and showcase my favorites.
Happy Valentine’s Day from all of us at Gotta Dance Dirty™; we love each and every one of you. This week, we have a very special 18+ giveaway going on our facebook page to see Bart B More, Nisus, and myself at the infamous Rickshaw Stop in San Francisco. Mr. van der Meer played to a jam-packed Control last Friday so do not sleep on this opportunity to see the Dutchman at one of my favorite venues in San Francisco.
We’ve already given away tickets earlier this month to see some of your favorite producers like JFK and The Twelves, but how about a pair to the sold out 18+ Dada Life and Pance Party show this Thursday at Ruby Skye in San Francisco? Just leave a comment on this facebook thread with your favorite Dada Life tune for a chance to win. We have at least two more (18+) giveaways coming up this month so make sure you’re dialed into our facebook page and as always, thanks for reading.
