Stream Two Previously Unheard Frankie Knuckles Mixes

It’s been a year and a week since the Godfather of House Music died.

To celebrate the life of Frankie Knuckles, BBC Radio 1’s Essential Mix this weekend broadcast two previously unheard mixes from Knuckles. The first was recorded live at an event in Shoreditch in 2011, while the second is a studio session from the same year.

You can listen to both here.

Visionquest hit 50 releases with Seclusion from Shaun Reeves and Tuccillo

Shaun Reeves and Tuccillo will release the 50th EP onVisionquest on May 17th.

Seclusion is a notable record in a few respects. Not only is it the label’s 50th EP, but it’s also co-founder Shaun Reeves’ first since 2013 (when Visionquest dropped his Alexi Delano collaborationThe Breeze). This time Reeves is working with Italian producer Tuccillo, known for his releases on 20:20 Vision, and they deliver two typically melodic originals along with a dub from Raum affiliate Dorian Paic. You can listen to clips of the release above.

Tracklist
A1 Seclusion
B1 Blue Elephant
B2 Blue Elephant (Dorian Paic’s Craft Brew House Dub)

Visionquest will release Seclusion on May 17th, 2015.

Back in May 2013, Soul Clap flew P-Funk pioneer George Clinton to Red Bull Studios in Los Angeles for a 3 day recording session.

The result of said session is a seriously funky release entitled ‘In Da Kar’, featuring P-Funk associates Sly Stone, Sa’D ‘The Hourchild Ali’, G-Koop, Tonysha Nelson, Will ‘Digeridoo’ Thoren and Crew Love members Nick Monaco and Navid Izadi.

George Clinton has even included the material on the new Funkadelic album, which is the first in 30 years.

Listen to ‘Peep This’ below, before ‘In Da Kar’ is released on May 11.
