Nicolas Jaar’s Other People gets to Work

Other People will release a compilation called Work on September 29th.

Nicolas Jaar launched the label last year as his most recent endeavour into the world of releasing music, and he’s kept busy with it, offering a new release every Sunday since it started—which has included music from Valentin Stip, DARKSIDE, DJ Slugo and others. Work is the Other People’s way of celebrating its first birthday, and it comes in double LP format. DARKSIDE offer up two unreleased tunes from the same sessions that birthed their debut album Psychic, while his musical partner Dave Harrington covers Nick Drake’s “Things Behind The Sun” and Ancient Astronaut gets remixed by Francis Harris, Powell and Jan Jelinek. There’s also a new track from Jaar’s other project VISUALS, and one from longtime associate Soul Keita.

A1 Nicolas Jaar – The President’s Answering Machine
A2 Soul Keita – Freedom
A3 Dave Harrington feat. Tamara – Things Behind The Sun
A4 VISUALS – A Pixel
B1 DARKSIDE – What They Say
B2 Ancient Astronaut vs. Powell – SSCS (Powell’s ‘Lift Off’ Mix)
B3 DARKSIDE – Gone Too Soon
C1 Ancient Astronaut vs. Jelinek – B2 (Jelinek Remix)
C2 Dave Harrington – Form And Affect
D1 Ancient Astronaut vs. Francis Harris & Gabriel Hedrick – B2 (Dub)
D2 Nicolas Jaar – The Boy Who Asked Too Much

Other People will release Work on September 29th, 2014.

Download a New Track from Gold Panda

2013 saw a flurry of activity from Gold Panda which culminated in the release of his excellent sophomore LP, Half of Where You Live, via Ghostly. 2014, however, has been a relatively quiet year for the UK artist, one whose silence has been momentarily broken by the release of a new production which the generous talent has elected to give away as a free download.

Titled “Clarke’s Dream,” the track makes use of Gold Panda’s MPC as it chops together a dusty, stuttering shuffle, adding thick layers of funky horns and watery textures to the soul-burnt track as it rolls along. Gold Panda’s latest effort can be streamed and downloaded for free via the player below.

Desert Hearts drop exclusive DJ T mix

Following the debut release on Desert Hearts Records, the San Diego collective have unleashed an incredible live mix from Get Physical Music mainstay DJ T.

In Desert Hearts own words…

When we first learned we’d confirmed DJ T to play our Desert Hearts Spring Festival, there was a collective shock of disbelief and astonishment that ran through all of us. DJ T had been one of our biggest idols for as long as we could remember, and now he was going to headline our desert festival which started from such humble beginnings. This was a “We made it…” moment for us.

As we started curating the flow of DJs for our 70 hour non-stop party, we only had one time slot in mind for DJ T.

Sunday Sunrise.

In our eyes there is no better time slot at Desert Hearts than Sunday Sunrise. If anyone had the track record to create magic on Sunday morning, it was DJ T.. He was the sole choice to lead our moment of triumph.
