AC Slater and Party Like Us Records present Night Bass Fall 2014 North America Tour
This October, bass house champion AC Slater takes his Night Bass party on the road for the first time with Jack Beats, Hannah Wants and Kry Wolf. With AC Slater’s Night Bass parties popping off every month in Los Angeles, the Night Bass tour brings the crew’s tastemaking fusion of house music with the dirty basslines of UK garage across 12 cities in North America. Get a taste of the Night Bass sound with AC Slater’s August 2014 mix on Soundcloud here!
Named by LA Weekly as “the most exciting new dance party in the city,” AC Slater’s Night Bass parties have earned a reputation for inviting the freshest and most forward-thinking bass music from all over the world, with the focus placed firmly on the dancefloor. “Night Bass is my description for a mixture of house, garage, bassline and grime with a dash of old skool rave,” AC Slater tells LA Weekly. “Just fun bass music you can dance to.” In only a few months, Night Bass has evolved to be not just a party, but also a movement to bring it back to the basics of “people hearing the music and making their own experience” without unnecessary distractions. Showcasing the best artists embracing this vibe, the Night Bass tour offers a refreshing return to what’s gone missing from the North American dance scene: “The low-frequency genre ratchets up the energy level past purist house, but the dial stops midway to eleven – good news for those who’ve grown ‘tired of pumping their fists to festival EDM for years,’“ says Time Out Shanghai.
Jack Beats are the multiple award winning DJ duo made up of Niall Dailly (DJ Plus One of Scratch Perverts fame) and Ben Geffin (The Mixologists). They had an immediate and profound effect on the club scene when they teamed up in 2007, forging a unique style that exploded with the release of their remix of AC Slater’s “Jack Got Jacked.” The following ‘U.F.O’ EP secured Jack Beats’ reputation, defining the fantastically multi-stranded sound that’s all over their music. Citing diverse influences, Jack Beats have taken the hip hop aesthetic to the dance arena, drawing on the best in UK dance music from house, dubstep and drum & bass to create their own unique sound. Check out their recent remix of Danny Brown’s “Smokin & Drinkin” which premiered on Mixmag here.
AC Slater is the king of heavy bass house in America whose career kicked off with a bang in 2008, with his seminal remix of “Turn the Music Up” on Trouble & Bass becoming an instant anthem. His constant output of tracks and remixes includes his best-selling ‘Jack Got Jacked’ EP, a blatant declaration of the invasion of house music by all things bass (and the start of a lengthy friendship with Jack Beats). Fast forward to the present, AC has toured the globe several times and his tunes have been played at every major festival and club in the world. Slater’s tunes and guest mixes can regularly be heard on major radio stations across the world, including the UK’s BBC Radio 1 and Rinse FM and Australia’s Triple J. His crew Trouble & Bass and his own record label Party Like Us continue to release some of the most groundbreaking and forward-thinking bass-heavy dance music in the underground. Listen to his recent set from Diplo & Friends on BBC Radio 1 here.
UK’s Hannah Wants, notorious for her hard-hitting bass house style, is a self taught DJ from Birmingham. Over the past few years, as this new genre of house music has quickly risen to the forefront of the scene, Hannah has securely taking the reigns as its leading lady. Hannah’s newest release “Signs” with Chris Lorenzo feat. Janai is out now on Ultra Music (listen here), with her tracks and mixes continuing to create waves and gaining momentum with every release. One thing, amongst many, that sets Wants apart from other DJs is her continued free music that she pushes out to her followers, as she releases a meticulously crafted 24+ track ‘mixtape’ on her SoundCloud page bi-monthly, encompassing her favorite current tracks and taking listeners journey from start to finish. Renowned in the UK for her live DJ sets, Hannah brings her talent on the decks to the U.S. for the Night Bass tour.
Kry Wolf are fast becoming recognized as one of the UK’s most exciting underground players due to their distinctively creative and varied production style and consistently strong releases. Raising the bar with their smash “Turbosteppa,” a collaboration with Dirtybird label boss Claude VonStroke, the duo are also behind two of the most exciting labels around at the moment, Sounds of Sumo and Food Music. Obsessively putting in the studio hours, their productions have ranged from house to garage, bass, and experimental as they continually refuse to be pigeon-holed. With some of the biggest names in dance music dropping their tracks, the word of the Wolf is spreading fast. Check out their latest tracks “Citrus” and “Education” on Food Music here.

Mosca readies dubby new 12″ ‘The Greyhounds’ for his own Not So Much label
It’s lucky we’re getting to hear it. The producer describes 12″‘s A Side ‘The Greyhounds’ as “a dubby, rolling thing with an indulgent breakdown,” and mentions that it was nearly binned. Thankfully we can thank his fans for giving it the nod at shows, and Mosca admits too that he’s “wanted to use those strings for 11 years now.”
The flipside ‘Clinical Trial’ is touted as a grimmer affair, one for “basement clubs, dust and metal and tape,” and that’s music to our ears. If you heard Mosca’s previous release on the label – the fab No Splice No Playback EP, then you’ll no doubt be just as eager as we are to peep this new material.
‘The Greyhounds’/’Clinical Trial’ will be released on vinyl on September 15, and digitally on September 29.
