BBC to produce Daft Punk documentary

After re-entering the scene last year and causing Random Access Memories-induced pandemonium, Daft Punk are set to continue bringing the excitement in 2015 with news a documentary is on the cards.
According to Variety, BBC Worldwide Production France will produce a one-hour long documentary on the iconic duo for French pay TV channel Canal Plus, to be aired through the station next year.

Directed by Hervé Martin Delpierre and co-written by Marina Rozenman, the film will chart Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo’s rise to prominence through the 90s to the present day, as they revolutionise dance music, become the leading figures of the French Touch scene and the world’s favourite pair of musically-talented robots.

The venture, announced at non-fiction confab Sunny Side, is said to be the ‘first independent movie’ on the Grammy-winning two-piece.

OVERWERK Makes US Tour Debut and Releases “Exist”

Today, Canadian producer and songwriter OVERWERK announces his debut North American Tour and releases “Exist.” Hot off his attention grabbing remix of Clean Bandit’s UK Chart topping single featuring Jess Glynne,“Rather Be,” released by Atlantic Records, Edmond Huszar is ready to show the world what he is all about and challenge fans’ musically boundaries as he travels across America hitting Los Angeles, New York, Boston and everywhere in between, through July and August.

OVERWERK has organically grown as an independent artist, while fastly becoming an international star. Producing unparalleled high energy sets, seamlessly blending french electro and epic cinematic scores into one, OVERWERK leaves each and every attendee wanting more at the end of his show. Though he pours his sweat and tears in each production, he has provided all of his music for free. Even without his other-worldly productions bearing a price point, he has consistently been one of top grossing independent artists, and a true fan favorite.

“Exist” will be Huszar’s most epic production to date. Pushing boundaries with gut-wrenching electro twists and mind-bending melodies meshed with beautiful string arrangements, “Exist” is a classic touch of Huszar’s iconic #DoWerk glitch madness.

Splashing onto dance music scene with his debut ep, The Nth Degree, the rising producer has continued to give eargasms worldwide. OVERWERK has since gone on to feature his tracks in out-of-this-world videos for GoPro, in addition to being featured in other dynamic visual appealing projects for Red Bull, Gucci, Prada, Vogue, Lamborghini, EA, FOX and Fortune to name a few.

Back in April, longstanding UK pair Simian Mobile Disco made the trek to the desert of Southern California to record the basic tracks for a new album live in Pioneertown—a small town nestled directly outside of Joshua Tree. With the details of the resulting LP,Whorl, announced last week, a new documentary has surfaced chronicling SMD’s three days recording in the desert. Put together by Ryan McNeill for Vans’ YouTube channel, the four-plus minute doc pieces together interviews in which the pair discuss why it elected to record its new record in such a unique location, and what the group hoped it would get out of the process. The short film also provides a few glimpses of the hardware Simian Mobile Disco used for the recording, even capturing them tweaking their respective modular rigs in the middle of a desert landscape.

In addition to the documentary, Simian Mobile Disco has also unveiled details of an eight-date US tour set to take place this September. Those dates have been included beneath the mini-doc below, which can be watched in full below.
