dirtybird takes their OG Bootylicous BBQ Series On The Road
Smack those lips and move those hips, dirtybird is finally taking it’s legendary BBQ party on the road! Brooklyn, Detroit, Los Angeles, Toronto, and San Francisco will all get to experience the good times that were already had in Miami back in March. Label chief, Claude VonStroke and superstar Justin Martin will be hosting all five cities with a variation of line-ups representing the entire label.
dirtybird was founded around a grill in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park many years ago and the ethos underpinning the label has remained the same ever since – good times, good people, good food and above all good jams. Come see the whole crew entertain on the decks with their signature bass-driven brand of house music while chef Grillson retains his title as the hardest working man in show business cooking thousands of burgers, dogs and carne asada.
dirtybird’s Miami BBQs have hosted legendary performances from Phife Dawg, Just Blaze and De La Soul, highlighting the dirtybird house label’s deep hip-hop roots. This March dirtybird also released their first BBQ themed compilation featuring the number #1 house record on Beatport for over 10 weeks.
Do not miss what promises to be one of the most down to earth, fun party series of the year. And get your grub on while you’re at it.

The Juan MacLean returns with In A Dream
In A Dream is described as “the Nancy Show”—a reference to the duo’s singer, Nancy Whang, whose trademark vocals take centre stage on the album. (She’s also very much the star of the record’s sleeve.) Sound-wise, you can expect something in keeping with previous productions from the duo, with nods to spacey disco, classic prog and house. A string of Juan Maclean DJ dates have also been announced, with shows across the US and Europe lined up from June through September. You can listen to the album’s first single, “A Place Called Space,” below.
01. A Place Called Space
02. Here I Am
03. Love Stops Here
04. You Were a Runaway
05. Running Back To You
06. I’ve Waited For So Long
08. A Simple Design
09. The Sun Will Never Set On Our Love
DFA will release In A Dream on September 16th, 2014.
Matrixxman to Release New EP for Kraftek; Stream the Title Track Now
Matrixxman (a.k.a. Charles McCloud Duff) has been somewhat of a fixture on XLR8Rpages of late; the San Francisco-based producer recently contributed an exclusive mix for our podcast series, and gained further momentum with releases on Spectral Sound and Ultramajic. Now, the Soo Wavey co-head has detailed another upcoming 12″, set to debut next week on Pleasurekraft’s Kraftek label. The Spell showcases his aptitude for crafting drum-machine-driven club tracks, and its lead cut, streaming below, delivers an effective slice of cleanly engineered, techno-flavored house music.
The Spell is officially due to arrive on June 30 and features recent Hotflush contributor Phil Kieran on a remix of the title track.

Stream the KiNK remix of DJ Zinc’s new single “Show Me”
The UK is more ripe than it’s been for a long time in terms of dance music’s pop potential, and who better to take advantage than DJ Zinc?
Zinc has a way with crossover dance music that most could ever dream of, from drum’n’bass anthem ‘Super Sharp Shooter’ to festival favourite ‘Wile Out’, with club classics like ‘Go DJ’ and ’138 Trek’ somewhere in the middle. This Summer, he’ll shoot for success with ‘Show Me’, a new single for Rinse / Virgin EMI that already feels destined for a high chart placing.
‘Show Me’ will be released on July 21 with remixes by Sigma, KiNK, A.G. Cook, Cause & Effect and Calibre. We’re streaming KiNK’s remix below…
