Giorgio Moroder returns with ‘Giorgio’s Theme’

moroder-adult-swim

Giorgio Moroder will release a new single called “Giorgio’s Theme” on June 9th.

After an extended period out of the spotlight, the disco pioneer made a comeback in 2013. As well as appearing on Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories, he embraced social networking and performed his first ever DJ gig.

“It’s not EDM,” Moroder says of the new track, which he describes as having “some arpeggios and nice chords.” “Giorgio’s Theme” will be released as a free download by Adult Swim’s label, Williams Street Records, who are releasing a track every week from June 9th until September 22nd. In the meantime you can stream it in full via the SoundCloud player below. Adult Swim have also released a video interview with Moroder—you can watch that below, too.

Ultramajic Readies New EP from Chambray

Ultramajic—the label helmed jointly by Jimmy Edgar and Machinedrum—has announced plans to introduce a new artist into the fold, Chambray, whose Rub EP will mark the imprint’s ninth release when it drops later this month. “Put these on in a club, watch it go boom,” the record’s accompanying press release says of the four-track release from the budding Berlin talent. Serving as our first taste, the label has let loose a small snippet of the EP’s title track, “Rub,” a floor-focused cut full of sharp claps and interweaving layers of percussion that cut through wide synths and slippery organ loops. The preview clip for “Rub” can be streamed below, where the full tracklist for Chambray’s upcoming Ultramajic debut (out on June 23) has also been included.

Magda and NYMA combine forces
MAGDA_0

Magda (pictured) and NYMA have launced a new project.

It sees the techno heavy Magda, and the less-so-heavy NYMA combine to become ‘DTR’, standing for ‘Define The Relationship’.

The partnership has kicked off with a remix of Chaka Khan’s track ‘I Feel For You’.

The second track that will be remixed is Jody Watley’s ‘Looking For A New Love’. This will then be followed by Magda and NYMA working their magic on LL Cool J’s ‘Walking With A Panther’.

The releases are being released as free downloads on DTR’s website.

Jerome LOL and Samo Sound Boy Share Video for New Track from Upcoming DJ Dodger Stadium LP

djdodgerstadium_060514

Last month, Body High co-heads Jerome LOL and Samo Sound Boy announced plans to release a collaborative LP together under the name DJ Dodger Stadium. Having shared lead single “Love Songs” along with the announcement, a new production from the collaborative project has now surfaced. Entitled “Never Win,” the track focuses on a titular vocal sample which is filtered in and out as it is strewn across an evolving set of driving chords and undulating drum-machine rhythms.

Accompanied by a bird’s-eye-view video clip, DJ Dodger Stadium’s “Never Win”—which appears to share a sample with Teengirl Fantasy’s “Cheaters”—can be heard in full below before the pair’s debut album, Friend of Mine (artwork above), drops next month via Body High.
