Listen: Four Tet’s epic new collab inspired by eight-hour set at Fabric
When Four Tet’s involved, it only takes one Soundcloud upload to brighten your morning. So here’s some good news: overnight, the Londoner posted a new track to his page, a collaboration with Dutch producer Martyn titled Glassbeadgames (8 Hours At Fabric Dub). Four Tet’s latest, however, isn’t a new TEXT release – rather it’s a track from Martyn’s forthcoming Forgiveness EP, out June 3 on Ninja Tune.
But don’t let the song title fool you – sadly, it’s not an eight hour track (though, let it be known, that would be very welcome) but it is a solid eight minutes of pure Kieren Hebden bliss, inspired by his recent marathon set at Fabric. Keen eared Four Tet fans might’ve heard this one kicking around in Hebden’s DJ sets for a while now, everyone else can enjoy it for the first time below.
Glassbeadgames is the first track the famously-prolific Hebden has put out as Four Tet in a while – recently, he’s been releasing tracks under the alias Percussions, four of which you can stream on his Soundcloud now. Before the Percussions output, he gave us the Terror Danjah collaborationsKiller and Nasty and a remix of Ellie Goulding’s Burn. Fingers crossed it’s not long until we get to hear what he does next.

Deetron to mix Fabric 76
Fabric 76 is shaping up to be a particularly eclectic edition of the mix series, with Sam Geiser’s selections ranging from classic Chicago and Detroit records up to contemporary cuts from the likes of Joe, Ondo Fudd, Atoms For Peace and Nils Frahm.
“I basically followed the pleasure principle when approaching the mix,” he explains.
“I started to pick my favourite pieces of dance music regardless of age or sub-genre and didn’t really begin to structure the mix until all the tracks had been cleared, except for one. So as I began to throw the tracks together as spontaneously as possible, the structure of the mix began to take shape.
“I did a single take before I recorded the final version of the mix as it is now in order to keep it as lively and representative of a live DJ set as possible. I don’t think I’ve enjoyed myself as much working on a mix in the studio before.”
Fabric 76 is out on June 16, with a launch party at Fabric on June 28 featuring Deetron alongside Craig Richards, Redshape, Will Saul, Terry Francis and Slam.
