Listen to James Blake’s Harmonimix of Kendrick Lamar’s “m.A.A.d City”

Blake unveils another Harmonimix on his BBC Radio 1 residency.

Only two shows in and James Blake’s Radio 1 show is already paying dividends: after last month’s Beyoncé Harmonimix (and “Burial” phone call), the jack-of-all-trades shared his Harmonimix of Kendrick Lamar’s ‘m.A.A.d City’.

Listen to the remix below and head to the BBC to listen to the full show. Perhaps Blake can get Kendrick and his roommate on a track together?

Ukranian Producer Vakula Blogs Kiev Unrest On Facebook

Ukranian DJ/producer Vakula has been blogging the events of the anti-government protests in Kiev on his Facebook page. In addition to posting status updates about what is happening in real time, he has also uploaded first hand videos, and is helping to collect money from the international community to purchase medicine for victims of violence.

Vakula hails from Konotop, a city in northern Ukraine. The Leleka head honcho has been taking breaks from his busy touring schedule through the UK, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and more to keep his fans and the global community aware of what is really going on in his home country. Take a look at some of his posts below and visit his Facebook page for more.

Watch a New Video from Julio Bashmore

Though the track itself appeared as a stream this past fall to tease Julio Bashmore’s as-yet-undetailed debut album, the Jessie Ware-featuring “Peppermint” single has reappeared today as a strange and impeccably crafted music video. The piece was directed by Noah Harris, who spoke with Thump about his work, saying, “It’s about evolution… It starts with a piece of graphic design, rigidly animated to the track, and this then evolves into three dimensions; the amoeba becoming a sentient graphic form, a constant process of evolution around the same visual themes.”

Though we currently have no information about Julio Bashmore’s forthcoming LP, we do know that “Peppermint (feat. Jessie Ware)” will drop on February 23 via the DJ/producer’s own Broadwalk label. The track’s new video can be seen above.

Simian Mobile Disco Teams with Roman Flügel on New 12″

UK dancefloor mainstay Simian Mobile Disco seems to have an extensive Rolodex of potential collaborators, as the pair has recently worked with the likes of Cosmin TRG, Trevino, and Bicep, among others, on the series of EPs for its Delicacies imprint. For the latest installment, producers James Ford and Jas Shaw have tapped veteran Frankfurt artist Roman Flügel to contribute to their new two-track 12″. The forthcoming record will feature a-side “Hachinoko” and b-side “Ikizukuri”—both of which are named after unusual Japanese cuisines—as well as an “Alt Mix” of the latter production filling out the release’s digital package when it appears on March 24. Simian Mobile Disco’s and Roman Flügel’s joint 12″ will drop on March 17.
