BBC Radio One’s Residency show is the slot, formerly known as In New DJs We Trust, where the best underground and stadium-worthy DJs showcase the freshest new music.

After releasing one of the biggest tracks of last year in the form of ‘Hackney Parrot’ the next DJ stepping up as a R1 resident will be Tessela and his show kicks off on February 20.

Taking the early slot of 9-10pm one Thursday a month, the R&S Records stalwart will join the likes of George Fitzgerald, Nervo and Branko as the underground tastemakers.

The Head of Programmes for BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra, Rhys Hughes says: “With one of the underground anthems of 2013 under his belt, it feels like the time is right for Tessela to showcase his talents on Radio 1 and we are looking forward to him joining Radio 1’s Residency.”
