Digitalism drops new Lift EP minimix
German duo Digitalism have made a special preview mix ahead of their new EP, ‘Lift’.
Their first release since 2011’s ‘I Love You, Dude’, the EP is coming out on Kitsuné, the French label that pumps out a multitude of catchy, electro-pop compilations and also helped to elevate the duo’s popularity during their early ‘Idealism’ days.
The six and a half minute mix previews the three tracks off ‘Lift’, which are Digitalism’s first-ever studio recorded collaborations, with M Machine, Steve Duda and Michael Diamond respectively.
‘Lift’ is out on Beatport August 23, and released worldwide September 23. Have a listen below.
New large Scale Burning Man Sound Installation, The Kazbah Pyramid, seeks donations
Each year, 80,000 people from around the globe gather in a dusty windswept Nevada desert to build a temporary city, collaborating on large-scale art and celebration for a week before burning a giant effigy in a ritual frenzy. Rooted in principles of self-expression, self-reliance and community effort, Burning Man has grown famous for stirring ordinary people (or not so ordinary) to shed their inhibitions and act on their dreams.
It is from this blank canvas that we shall finally BUILD!
We share a deep bond with Burning Man, Art and Music. All of which are very close to our hearts. We’re extremely excited and blessed to have this opportunity to be involved in something that is seamlessly combining all of these together, giving us all our moments to shine and grow. This year, we’ve come together as one and decided that it was our time to give back to the playa in a way that will make a mark on house music sound camps at Burning Man for many years to come.
Watch the video below for details on The Kazbah.
We just want to create an amazing vibe where people can come and enjoy the Pyramid, while listening to some incredible music on a super clean sound system.
We need funding to pay for the rental of the sound system and associated costs with running that sound: transport, fuel, generators, etc.
Help us make our dreams a reality for all those to enjoy at Burning Man 2013, and for years to come. We appreciate your support. Spread the word!
Listen to Shigeto’s ‘No Better Time Than Now’ LP for Ghostly
Michigan artist Shigeto (a.k.a. Zach Saginaw) has made his highly anticipated forthcomingNo Better Time Than Now LP available to stream in full. The jazz-indebted beatmaker’s second full-length album combines his sense of sonic precision with immersive instrumental flair, and is set to drop via Ghostly on August 20. With a clear instrumental hip-hop influence, No Better Time Than Now weans its way into the subconscious with its scattered breakbeats and lazy jazz sheen. Saginaw’s brand-new LP can be heard in its entirety below, courtesy of Hype Machine.
Cocoon celebrates 100th release with compilation
Cocoon Recordings has passed the milestone of one hundred releases and to celebrate, the dance music giant will release ‘Cocoon 100’, set to be out in September.
The label was founded in 2000 and has grown substantially since; bookings for events, a club in Frankfurt and a platform for emerging DJs and producers to release their music without relying on bigger labels.
Cocoon has released recordings from the likes of Pele, Minilogue, Boys Noize and Cassy, after first starting out as a label for compilations.
The compilation will feature unreleased records from Loco Dice, Lawrence and Dana Ruh, with a two-disc CD to feature Dominik Eulbery, Legowelt, Gregor Tresher, Petar Dundoy and more. The vinyl release will also include Secret Cinema, Pig & Dan and Recognition amongst others from the label.
Cocoon really shows no sign of stopping, so expect another big milestone celebration not far off…
