Richie Hawtin Gives Away New Mix
During last month’s Sónar Festival (a weekend from which we picked out a comprehensive list of winners and losers), techno mainstay Richie Hawtin was at one point enlisted to take charge of the DJ booth during a rooftop party at Barcelona’s Hotel Diagnoal. Now, Hawtin has pieced together a truncated version of that set for the latest volume of his free mix series, Fragments. Intended as a way to “capture the feeling and direction of the night, giving those who were there a reminder of the events they experienced while giving those who were not present a fragmented distortion of what they missed,” the new mix is an “edited and reconstructed” version of Hawtin’s performance from that night. It allows us all a glimpse into Hawtin’s abilities as a mixmaster without occupying too much harddrive space. The complete eighth “episode” of Hawtin’s ongoing Fragments mix series can be streamed and downloaded below.
Julio Bashmore Shares New Single, Announces UK Tour
Today, Bristol house mainstay Julio Bashmore has made two exciting announcements, sharing dates of his upcoming UK tour and streaming his brand-new single online. The DJ/producer’s schedule of fall performances will find him weaving around his home country from the end of September through the start of November, all the dates of which can be found below before pre-sale tickets are made available on July 8. As for Julio Bashmore’s latest track, “Duccy” is an expectedly stripped-down and bass-loaded dancefloor cut which is set to see a release “later this year” via the artist’s own Broadwalklabel and can be heard in its entirety below.
Brodinski to release ‘The Purple Ride’ mixtape
Next week sees the release of Brodinski’s new mixtape ‘The Purple Ride’ on Bromance.
On July 8 the Frenchman will drop a hip hop-infused comp that also incorporates all of the genres that he so intricately mixes.
To celebrate you can download two new tracks that will appear on the mixtape. ‘Bricktown District’ by Maelstrom is a dark, twisted techno roller with some killer groove and Brodinski’s remix of King L’s ‘Val Venis’ is a classy trap affair that will no doubt have you moving with a gangster lean.
It’s no secret that here at Mixmag we’re big fans of Brodinski and his Bromance label. So much so that we asked him and Louisahhh!!! to do a killer birthday mix for us last month.
Cityfox to throw sixteen hour party in Brooklyn
Cityfox is a label that has released music from big acts like Subb-an, Burnski, Fur Coat, and many others. Last year in New York, they put together an incredible two story warehouse party equipped with amazing art installations that people are still talking about.
This summer, Cityfox will bring their curating talent back to New York. The promoter/label will take over all three rooms of Output on July 13 with a party called ‘Monkey Business’.
Diynamic mainstay Adriatique is booked to play, along with a host of others including an All Day I Dream resident Mike Khoury and New York favorite DJ Three.
This is the first time that a single promoter will take over the club for an entire day and night. The party will begin on Output’s amazing rooftop and migrate to the restaurant and club after the sun sets.
Grab tickets to the gig here.
