There are some birds chirping overhead as kids run wild in the lively green field and playground, teenagers are walking hand in hand as adults rest up and take in the refreshing summer breeze on the park benches, and you are taking a stroll on the reflective concrete path with your earbuds in and arms gently swaying to the beat. Maybe it’s to clear your head, maybe it’s just to relax, either way, if you’re not playing this Jerome LOL remix to D33J’s, “Park,” the next time this scenario becomes available, you’re doing it wrong.
You can almost feel the wind swirling as it pans in and out of the track and the mellow jazz drum kit that provides punctuation for a brisk stroll. The resolute trumpet chides in and disappears almost as quickly as it enters the track to make way for the vibraphone outro to gently escort you through the end of the piece. If this song were a color I would say it alternates between light oranges and purples. If you like what you hear, be sure to pick up D33J’s “Tide Songs” EP released April 18th on Anticon.
