Modeselektor announce documentary film,We Are Modeselektor

Modeselektor, as ever, are having a busy time of it. 

Later this year, the German duo will club up with Apparat for asecond Moderat full-length. Their 50Weapons imprint, meanwhile, has been firing on all cylinders, lining up releases from Cosmin TRGBambounou and Benjamin Damage. For those curious about the pair’s day-to-day business, help is at hand: Modeselektor are to be profiled in a new feature-length documentary, We Are Modeselektor.

The 72 minute film arrives courtesy of filmmakers Holger Wick and Romi Agel, and promises “a post-German reunification movie, a travel report, and a portrait of the special friendship between Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary all in one”. Apparat and Ellen Allien are among the talking heads recruited for the film. A trailer is below, and shows the pair performing live, tinkering with gongs in the studio and bombing in hotel pools.

The film will see release on May 3 on DVD. A host of public screening have been announced across Europe, including a broadcast at the pair’s show at London’s Roundhouse in May – see below for dates. [via Electronic Beats]

Mount Kimbie to Tour With Holy Other

London duo Mount Kimbie are currently finishing their new album, due out this year on Warp. But before that album sees release, the band is heading out on tour, which features a stop at SXSW, appearances at the xx’s Night + Day series of festivals in Europe, and several North American dates with Manchester-based producer Holy Other.

Cyril Hahn releases on new secret label

From internet sensation, to limited edition vinyl edits, Cyril Hahn is the first artist to release on the new Love Below project from somethinksounds.

The Love Below it is a secret edits label, which will release 500 copies of red vinyl accompanied by some limited edition, screen printed merchandise.

Having received millions views online, Hahn (who featured recently in Mixmag’s Keep An Eye on page) is now releasing two of his most popular remixes as a part of the project.

Cyril Hahn’s remix of Destiny’s Child’s ‘Say My Name’ and ‘Losing You’ from Solange will be on the double A-side, and was out earlier this week, March 4.

Squarepusher Readies Digital-Only EP for Next Week; Stream a Track Now

Next week, veteran UK experimentalist Squarepusher (a.k.a. Tom Jenkinson) and his longtime label home Warp Records will be releasing Enstrobia, a three-track digital EP that was originally only given to people who purchased physical versions of last year’sUfabulum LP. Available for purchase via on March 11, this will be the first time these songs will be sold as a standalone EP. The Enstrobia artwork and tracklist is below, along with a stream of opening cut “Angel Integer.”

Baths Announces New Album Obsidian, Shares Track “Miasma Sky”, Tours With the Postal Service

Will Wiesenfeld is back with a new Baths album. Obsidian is the follow up to 2010’s Cerulean, and it’s out May 28 via Anticon. That up there is the album cover, plus “Miasma Sky”, the first track he’s sharing from the new LP. 

In an interview with Pitchfork’s Ian Cohen earlier this year, Wiesenfeld described Obsidian as darker, yet more pop and more hi-fi than his previous efforts. He also noted that he wrote the songs on the new album with the idea that they’d translate well to a full band live setting.

Speaking of: Wiesenfeld has also announced a new batch of tour dates, including shows with WHY? and supporting the Postal Service. Check those out below the tracklist.
