Daft Punk not touring in 2013?
Based on really no evidence aside from rumors of a new studio album and this one photographer who hit up a music forum and claimed he had been hired by the group to document their upcoming travels, the conventional wisdom was that Daft Punk would perform live in 2013. They still may — but at least one music festival promoter has been told they won’t.
Rob da Bank, the organizer of UK’s acclaimed Bestival, recently discussed some of 2013′s big rumors in an interview with eFestivals. In regards to Daft Punk, he said, “We got told months ago that Daft Punk were definitely not touring next year.”
We reached out to Daft Punk’s representation for confirmation, but they rarely respond back — even if the rumors are false.
There is one thing we do know for sure: Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter celebrates his 38th birthday today. So, yeah, happy birthday!
Update: da Bank has backtracked from his original statement, writing on Twitter, ” On the daft punk thing-I’m not their manager, agent or mate so I have no idea if they’ll tour in 2013 …or not! They may do 300 festivals!”
Eats Everything’s ‘stolen’ property returned
Following our report on 20th December that Dan Pearce aka Eats Everything’s bag containing three memory sticks and a pair of Senheisser headphones had been removed from the DJ booth at our Best of British Awards Party at Cable, London, we are chuffed to confirm the property has been returned.
Sent on 22nd December but ‘closed until 2nd Jan’, the Royal Mail jiffy bag addressed to ‘Eats Everything’ was delivered to DJ Mag HQ containing an anonymous handwritten note: ‘It was an accident, Sorry! Merry Christmas’
Putting an end to a saga that clouded an otherwise hugely successful event, it also brought some good news to the big man himself, who responded:
‘Wow! That’s mental! So weird? That’s great news though!’

Listen: Jamie xx Remixes Coexist‘s “Sunset”
Last month, for the iTunes “12 Days of Christmas” giveaway series, the xx offered a free three-track EP, including a live version of Coexist cut “Angels” and a Jamie xx remix of “Sunset”. The release is still free to download via iTunes in the UK through January 6, but now it’s also available to stream via YouTube for those elsewhere, as Abeano notes. Check it out, below.
Also below, watch the xx describe their songwriting process and perform “Fiction” in a recent three-part documentary, via Pitchfork.tv.

AlunaGeorge reveal further album details, drop new song
Much-trumpeted pop pair AlunaGeorge – who just snatched the number 2 spot in the BBC’s Sound Of 2013 poll – have announced a smattering of new details about their forthcoming debut album.
As we ascertained last month, the combo of Aluna Francis and George Reid are set to drop their first effor in June via Island. We also got a soupçon of a new track, titled ‘Diver’.
As Pitchfork report, the album has now got a title, Body Music(presumably not a reference to Powell’s excellent 2012 EP of the same name). ‘Diver’ is also now available to stream in full, and it’s a shrill, twitchy number in a similar vein to breakthrough cut ‘You Know You Like It’. A radio rip of the track is below, courtesy of The Line Of Best Fit.
