While I DO know about the legendary Kompakt Records, I admittedly do not know a whole lot about their artist COMA (duo Marius Bubat & Georg Conrad who apparently hail from Space, according to their bio). I DO, however, know my 80s music. And everyone knows that “Bette Davis Eyes” by Kim Carnes is one of the greatest one-hit wonders of all time. The track has certainly made some appearances on the electronic music circuit via remixes and sampling, most notably on “In Your Arms” by all-time GDD favorite Mylo.
This time around, “Bette Davis Eyes” gets a rich, hypnotic, techno pop treatment from the aforementioned COMA. The long, spacey intro builds and builds and then right around the 4:00 minute mark, that signature synth riff comes rolling in. And the result is glorious. Even more glorious: the track is being given away as a free .WAV!
