Dirtybird takeover Radio 1

Dirtybird are to finish up 2012 by taking over Pete Tong’s Radio 1 show this Friday.

Claude VonStroke and Justin Martin will step into Tongy’s shoes, taking over his weekly 9pm-11pm slot.

The slot finishes up a seismic year for Dirtybird which saw them provide one of the undoubted highlights of Bestival, with their takeover in the Bollywood tent and Justin Martin’s debut album became one of the most critically acclaimed albums of the year.

Tune into Radio 1 from 9pm this Friday (December 21) for plenty of festive treats and a few sneak-peaks of what to expect from the label in 2013.

Major Lazer release album teaser

The new Major Lazer album is coming. ‘Free The Universe’ is due out in February 2013 and now Diplo’s mutant dancehall gang has released a teaser video for the record.

The clip features the start of a Major Lazer tune and even though it’s only 50 seconds long, it feature’s those trademark roots, dancehall and mad Dutch house sounds. Check it out below.

Major Lazer have been super busy in the build up to ‘Free The Universe’, having recently released a new mixtape, turned in a storming remix of The Prodigy and released the huge ‘Jah No Partial’.

Salva Announces New EP, North American Tour

After spending most of 2012 on the road and running his Frite Nite label, California producer Salva has big plans for 2013, including a North American tour and his first solo release since 2011′s Yellobone EP. Firstly, Salva will jump around the US and Canada, with the likes of Lunice, Brenmar, Daedelus, and Shlohmo joining him at certain stops. Then, on February 12, he’ll drop the five-track Odd Furniture EP via Friends of Friends, but you can check out the details for both the upcoming release and tour before then, below

Marquee Las Vegas New Year’s Eve

Marquee Nightclub is bringing in all the big guns to close out a spectacular 2012 with a weekend full of DJ heavyweights. The New Year’s Eve weekend kicks off with ATB on Friday, December 28, Kaskade on Saturday, December 29 and Avicii on Sunday, December 30.

For the grand finale on New Year’s Eve, Benny Benassi brings the debut of a new, expanded Metamorphosis show — custom built for Benny by the Marquee creative team, complete with stunning production, set design and costumes — for the perfect transition into 2013. The night will include an open bar from 9 pm – 11 pm, passed hors d’oeuvres and a Champagne toast at midnight.  

“Las Vegas is always an amazing place to play, the people there are like nowhere else in the world. It’s almost like the Ibiza of America. I’ve had some amazing memories there like when Chris Brown jumped up on stage and performed “Beautiful People” with me at Marquee, I didn’t even know he was there,” says Benny. “Only in Vegas! I’ve really enjoyed being able to develop a unique show with Marquee. In fact, the Metamorphosis show is exclusive to Marquee. So playing NYE in Vegas seems like the perfect way to bring in 2013.“

Close out 2012 and ring in 2013 with the very best in electronic dance music taking center stage in the nation’s new dance music capital.

Perform with Robbie Rivera at the Juicy Beach party in Miami + get your music released on Juicy Music

It’s early December but we have information on a great contest that will get you in the mood for WMC and Miami Music Week – RIGHT NOW.
Robbie Rivera  - creator of the acclaimed “Juicy Beach” party in Miami is seeking out a hot new dance music talent through an online competition. The Grand Prize winner will receive the opportunity to play along side Robbie and other international DJ talent at Juicy Beach on March 21, 2013 plus the chance to show off those production skills with their very own release on Juicy Music. It’s important to note that Robbie isn’t looking for some last minute opening DJ, but a rather a new talent to showcase prominently at the Juicy Beach event and on all promotional materials. Miami is Robbie’s hometown, so contestants must bring it!
To enter, aspiring producers and DJs are invited to submit an original remix of Robbie’s track, “Makes Me Feel Good” along with their best 15-minute mix which incorporates their remix towww.talenthouse.com/perform-juicy-beach. Stems for “Makes Me Feel Good” are availablehere. Submissions are open until February 10, 2013 with a one-week voting period taking place between February 11 and February 18. Robbie Rivera will personally choose the Grand Prize Winner while the fans will choose the runner up. Winners will be announced on February 26, 2013.   
Since 2005, Robbie Rivera and his wife and business partner, Monica, have been the driving forces behind the world-renown Juicy Beach party at WMC in Miami each March. The 17-hour events at Nikki Beach Club attract a cast of over 5500 clubbers as well as A-list DJs, and the party has gone on to become one of the week’s most successful events. From 2006 to 2008 Juicy Ibiza parties at Amnesia (sponsored by Armani Exchange) and Privilege in Ibiza & Catwalk in Barcelona welcomed over 6,000 clubbers. To date Juicy Beach has featured a who’s who of DJ talent including Kaskade, Deadmau5, Benny Benassi, Axwell, Sander van Doorn, Steve Angello, Mark Knight, Dirty South, Sebastian Ingrosso, Laidback Luke, Joachim Garraud, Thomas Gold and George Acosta, among others.
There’s a lot in the works for 2013 including the first ever Juicy World Tour. After successfully bringing Juicy Beach to New York City’s Governors Island (the first North American Juicy Beach show outside of Miami), Robbie’s decided to bring Juicy themed parties directly to fans across North America.  Look out for tour dates soon
