[REVIEW] Boys Noize at Roseland NYC 11/30

Last Friday I went out to Roseland Ballroom to catch Boys Noize, Spank Rock and UZ on the New York stop of Ridha’s first live American tour. I love me some Acid House and Techno, and the German phenom has been one of my favorites for as long as I can remember, so seeing a brand new show from him was  a must! See what’s different after the jump…

While I dig that trap shit and the mystery of UZ and Spank Rock’s funk, I was there for Boys Noize alone, so his openers were just a blur…However, you better believe when the lights dimmed and the eyes of the massive silver skull dominating the stage started to glow red I was front and center, ready for the show.

For the next two hours the crowd was assaulted by chainsaw beats, raw electro and the signature Boys Noize sound. Starting with “What You Want”  into a series of Boys Noize classics like “Starter,’ “Kontact Me” “& Down,” “Lava Lava,” And “Jeffer” all mashed together and cut up to form a seamless dance experience.

One of the highlights of the night was definitely the transition from “Frau” by Boys Noize featuring I Robots into “ICH R U.” By using his custom setup, BN took the original “ICH R U” vocal and transposed it up and down into a melodic line, creating a one of a kind live expereince that was impossible not to groove along with.

The night was everything I expected and more. Boys Noize always delivers and his fantastic live production was a sight to behold. If you’re near any of his other tour shows, get on it! This is 100% a MUST SEE.
