Gemini recently released his 5 track Mercury EP on Beatport with Inspected Records, a label best know for bringing us big bass guys like KOAN Sound and Zeds Dead. Gemini is similarly bass-heavy and dubstep oriented, but what I like best about him is the diversity and smooth, sexy electro-dubstep crossover in many of his tracks.
The EP itself is a demonstration in his abilities, with tracks varying from 90-140bpm that cross the boundary between electro-house and dubstep and are supported by huge names in both genres. From the electro-ballad “Robots” to the dark electro-house feel of “Freedom” (supported by the likes of Tiesto and Axwell), to “Losing My Way” and “3D Romeo” both of which are clearly influenced by dubstep – but are also so different from one another in only the best of ways. Finally, “Second Law,” my personal favorite, is dark, fast-paced and intense, just how I like it!
I am seriously looking forward to UKF’s New York Launch on December 1st when I can hear these live!!
