Magnetic Man want Eminem on new album

Magnetic Man‘s Benga says he wants Eminem to guest on the group’s second album.

The dubstep trio convinced R&B singer John Legend to sing on their track ‘Getting Nowhere’ on their self-titled debut album, but they want to hook up an ever bigger collaboration with their next record.

The DJ and producer told the Daily Star:

“I couldn’t believe we got John Legend on our first album, so now we think, ‘Can you get me Eminem?”

Benga previously joked to NME that the trio’s second album would feature “Prince, James Blake, Stevie Wonder and Lenny Kravitz” and said his solo album, due out in February, would include “Madonna, Aviici, Justin Bieber and Flo Rida.”

Earlier this year, the producer, alongside fellow Magnetic Man DJs Skream and Artwork told NME in a video, which you can see below, that he considers his band, Skrillex and Mumford And Sons as the “artists of his generation”.

Asked who the trailblazers were, the producer replied: “Us obviously, Skrillex and Mumford & Sons”, to which his bandmate Skream added: “What a weird group of people, can you imagine us all in a room together?”

Benga has also revealed that he has turned his back on dubstep, despite being considered one of its inventors. Asked about this, he replied: “I’ve been seen to say that dubstep is the music of our generation, but that’s now changed. I believe now that certain artists are the future, I don’t want to be any part of dubstep anymore.”

Meanwhile, Benga can soon be seen in a behind-the-scenes, fly-on-the-wall online documentary about his life. Titled I Am Benga, the series begins on November 13 via Red Bull Studios.

Listen to Lee Foss’ Essential Mix

Windy City native Lee Foss is a pretty busy man already, but it seems that running Hot Creations alongside Jamie Jones and being one quarter of Hot Natured just isn’t enough.

Foss completed his two hour mix on the coveted Essential Mix show on BBC Radio 1 last night and you can listen to it again here.

As is customary for Lee Foss, expect smooth and slinky sounds.

This also comes off the back off a good week for Mr. Foss and the Hot Natured crew as their new single, ‘Benediction’ featuring Ali Love, entered the UK charts.

Maceo Plex to Release New EP via Ellum Audio

After recently releasing the hit single “Love Somebody Else” with Jon Dasilva, Valencia-based DJ/producer Maceo Plex is back with a new release for his own Ellum Audio imprint. The record, entitled Space Junk, is a two-track EP featuring a-side “Filthy Mama” and a tune called “Stimulation” on the flip. Though Maceo Plex’s productions maintain his standard of sound quality, the tunes are said to be a little more rough around the edges than his usual material, a vibe which is owed in part to the lo-fi and gritty bass tones used in both tracks. You can preview the Space Junk EP before it drops on December 10, below.

RIP Martin Dawson

Berlin-based house artist Martin Dawson died today after spending ten days in the hospital following an aneurysm.

Dawson was an English DJ and producer who made a name for himself both as a solo artist (formerly as King Roc, more recently as Martin Dawson) and as part of the duo Two Armadillos (opposite Giles Smith of Secretsundaze). He was hospitalized on November 1st after being found collapsed on his studio floor, having suffered an aneurysm on his brain. Doctors made every effort to save his life, but lost him earlier today. Our thoughts are with his family, his girlfriend and everyone else who was close to him.
