New Releases: Zodiac, Samo Sound Boy, Black Rose, Brenmar

Zodiac Samo Sound Boy Black Rose Brenmar

Few cool releases from a wide range of talented producers from all over the world out this week and what better way to be my eclectic bad self than slap them all into one post. Whether you’re an old-school fiend, an R&B aficionado, or on top of the new & trendy sounds of LA, there’s something below worth checking out. Either way, keep that booty shaking and those feet tapping. All EPs with streams and buy links (along with a bonus download) after the jump…

Zodiac – Zodiac EP [VASE]

Zodiac, perhaps better known as the kid from Toronto who got shafted out of crediting on The Weeknd’s breakout tracks on House of Ballons (ie the tracks that Drake discovered and… well I’m sure you’ve seen the rest), has come a bit out of the shadows to release his first EP on Vase, a label who’s pushed releases from other Canadian artists like Jacques Greene. Obviously a man with a keen ear and a dark edge, his EP takes the R&B vibe to a new level laced with a lingering slowness and tinge of sadness. Worth checking out, and definitely an artist worth keeping an eye on.

Samo Sound Boy – 5 Dollar Paradise [BODY HIGH]

Half of the brain behind the cleverly branded LA label Body High, Samo Sound Boy finally appears with his own EP. After a display of instagram posts working in the EP title, and a slow leak of each track over on his SoundCloud, 5 Dollar Paradise is finally here. With tons of acid lines and weird formats, it’s definitely an EP for the super late night sweaty warehouse where both your friends and the freaks come out to play.

Black Rose – Asking Why [Made To Play]

Two of the Euro kings of house music, Jesse Rose & Henrik Schwarz, cheekily formed Black Rose as their collaborative effort, and are back with a new track following the large success of “Anthem” last year. With Rose’s signature horn and Schwarz’ knack for grooves it’s once again an infectious house beat that really just makes me wish I was in an eternal Panorama Bar. PURCHASE

Brenmar – Children of the Night [Grizzly]

The latest from Brenmar is a creative hit with vocalist Kaleena Zanders, putting a fresh take on an old school track. “Children Of The Night” just dropped yesterday, featuring the original track as well as a slowed down “House” edit, on Sinden‘s Grizzy imprint and is available for purchase here: Purchase on Beatport

!!!BONUS!!! Supreme Cuts – Val Venus (Brenmar Remix) [FREE DOWNLOAD]

Brenmar is one of my favorite champions of free music, as he’s great at keeping a consistant flow of tunes and remixes out for grabs to the public. This is probably one of my favorite of his remixes to date, as it very cleverly switches BPM halfway through the track. Be sure to check out other free downloads from Brenmar on his Soundcloud.
