Summafieldayze 2013 lineup

It’s here! After a mega 2012 edition that celebrated the New Year with the likes of PendulumSnoop DoggMoby and Calvin Harris along for the ride, summer party fixture Summadayze and it’s Gold Coast incarnation Summafieldayze has announced the lineup for 2013 and lucky for us, it’s huge.

Yep, yesterday’s leak M.I.A. is there, back in Australia for the first time since Big Day Out 2011. She’s joined by the mighty Chemical Brothers at the top of the bill with a DJ set, the legendary British duo as worthy a headliner as they come. Summafieldayze boasts Brits Hot Chip and SBTRKT, while the Gold Coast can also look forward to a visit from Fedde Le Grand, a Mark Ronson DJ set and an appearance by German house duo Booka Shade.

Summafieldayze has also snagged the long-awaited Maya Jane Coles booking, the esteemed Londoner finally locked in her for first Australian visit. Then there’s Eddie HalliwellAN21 & Mark Vangeli and Carl Craig with his 69 live show, as well as Frenchie Breakbot, whizz Erol Alkan andHudson Mohawke.

The lineup comes a day after Future Entertainment, the people behind Summadayze and Summafieldayze, announced they are partnering with EMI to form the new label Future Music. “On a local level, we know there are so many great DJs and producers in Australia doing great things. We want to discover them, help them develop, release their music and hopefully see them perform on our festival stages,” Future head Brett Robinson told inthemix.

“For music fans, each year we present a selection of worlds the most diverse range of artists at our festivals each year. A lot of people discover acts and become their fans at our festivals. Others just have an amazing experience. We want to give them a way of living that festival experience each day via our label. Release music for them to listen to each day by the big acts they love, the emerging acts they love discovering and providing compilations and bundles of music under the Future Music banner they can trust is going to be what they want to listen to.” All in all, Summa 2013 is looking tight – check out the full thing as well as dates and venues below.

Psychemagik announce ’Magik Circles’ Compilation

Psychemagik are set to drop a new compilation on Leng Records on October 22.

The mix, entitled ‘Magik Circles’, will encompass the duo’s love for old school vinyl and under-the-radar-tunes.

Their love for vinyl is so great that they even help supply acts like Soulwax, Fake Blood and The Chemical Brothers with the records that have eluded them for so long.

All of the tracks featured in the mix have been taken from the original vinyl and the genres range from psychedelic funk to cosmic disco all the way to middle eastern beats.

The first CD features the continuous mix whilst CD two has all of the tracks in their stand-alone glory.

Wrap you ears around the teaser mix below and get those funky disco shoes on.

Dixon heads West

Dixon will play three shows on the West Coast in late September.

Steffen Berkhahn is nown as a DJ first and foremost, thanks to renowned mix CDs like his The Grandfather Paradox and his edition of Body Language, the latter of which was #5 in our poll of the best mixes of the last decade. He also runs Innervisions with duo Âme, and is a house producer and remixer in his own right.

After several other stateside jaunts earlier this year, Dixon will take on a quick three-night run of the West Coast at the end of September. The mini-tour will begin in San Francisco on September 27th at Public Works for a Forward night with residentAdnan Sharif and No Way Back’s Solar. Then he’ll head up to Seattle to play a Decibel Festival afterparty at Re:Bar on the night of the 28th, presented jointly between RA and As You Like It and also featuring Seattle local Pezzner with AYLI’sBrian Bejarano. On the 29th he’ll play a Capsulem night in Los Angeles alongsideSlow Hands and resident Elwan.

Tickets for the Resident Advisor + As You Like It afterhours in Seattle are available on RA.
