Sorry for the brief Dirt hiatus folks. We’ve been all over the grid lately — Detroit, San Francisco, San Diego, Las Vegas, etc, but now we’re back on track and ready to bring you 10 tracks all for download each Thursday here on out. This week, I’ve teamed up with the youngest member of our family, Toks, for an eclectic collection of tunes that should tickle a bit of everyone’s fancy. Get into it.
DEEP DISCO / HOUSE
After listening to Edit Murphy‘s mix that we posted this morning, I did a big investigation of many of the amazing artists that he featured in his tracklist, and I came up on Medlar, a House expert on Wolf Music out of London. He’s given away his track, ‘Floor,’ which is the funky Deep Disco/House jam featured by Edit Murphy. √++
GHETTO TECH / SLOW JAM
Leave it to Brenmar to take a sexy Slow Jam and make it ready for the dancefloor. Shake your ass. Shake it.
WEST COAST DOWNTEMPO
Kastle has just recently started up his own record label, Symbols Recordings, last month, which we’re particularly excited about as we love the vocally-driven, bassy downtempo sound that Barrett has evolved under the Kastle moniker. This freebie, ‘It’s About Us,’ reminds me a lot of the 90s sounds of West Coast Hip-Hop.
Tale of Us played one of the best sets that I saw this year at Movement Festival in Detroit. The guys definitely know their stuff, and when teamed up with Visionquest‘s Ryan Crosson, it only goes positive. The 3 lads came together on ‘Glory’ and fused Acid, Techno, and Tech House together to make quite a chune.
Here’s a nice, groovin’ house track from the Melbourne native, DJ Agent 86. I’m loving the low-key disco feel along with the use of organic sounds including a twangy guitar and trumpet. Just another hidden gem from down under.
Amirali goes just about as deep as it can get with this tune that he kindly decided to release in return for the support from fans that he has received recently. If you need some late-night listening material, look no further.
LIQUID DRUM AND BASS
Kubix is my latest discovery in the liquid realm, and I’m very happy I found him because of this beautiful track. It has a sort of introspective and uplifting mood to it that is refreshing to hear.
If you combine a little dubstep with Breakbot samples, like Nostalgia did here, you get one excellent piece of funky bass music. This has been a favorite of mine ever since Burn Unit gave me the heads up on it, so I’m sure you’ll be diggin’ it too.
