At a time when the nu-disco scene started to get a bit stale, guys like Perseus, Goldroom, Poolside & Moon Boots emerged right in the nick of time last year to give the disco/slo-mo scene a much needed jolt of freshness + creativity. During that period when people started to grow weary of the same bubbly nu-disco that countless other artists had been serving up repeatedly over the last few years, these were the guys that offered up a more emotive brand of songwriting & layered it with deep, tropical sounds & started doing things that no other disco artists had thought to do. And now that the foundation has been laid by them, artists like Le Youth and ColeCo are adding their mark on the scene.
To get into the spirit of the Summer season, ColeCo are showing off their new tropical chops with the track “Ricky Smiley” from their soon-to-be-released “El Verano” EP (complete with an EP release party this month in Toronto – check out the Facebook event HERE).
