Insomniac to Launch EDMbiz, an Innovative and Culturally Essential Music Conference, During EDC Week in Las Vegas, June 5-7, 2012
At a time when electronic dance music is dramatically impacting mainstream culture and commerce, Insomniac will launch the inaugural EDMbiz conference prior to Electric Daisy Carnival on June 8-10 in Las Vegas. The conference will be held June 5-7, as part of EDC Week, at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.
Uniting industry leaders and pioneers with peripherally connected businesses and ambitious entrants, the conference will focus on moving EDM forward on a credible and prosperous path. EDMbiz will facilitate relevant discussion and debates focused on the most pertinent topics and issues specific to the scene including: best practices, social media, technology platforms, festivals, direct-to-fan relationships, licensing, branding, sponsorships, and sustaining community, humanity and credibility during a period of massive growth.
Jason Bentley, consummate tastemaker, tireless champion of new music and culture, and a globally respected DJ, will serve as the conference host.
“As electronic dance music reaches new heights of popularity and influence in 2012, EDMbiz has been conceived as a key forum for business development in the community,” said Bentley. “The EDM lifestyle touches all corners of pop culture today and by creating a smart and effective conference just ahead of the single largest electronic dance music festival in North America, EDMbiz is uniquely positioned to be an essential crossroads for new ideas and opportunities.”
Panelists and keynote speakers will include world renowned electronic artists as well as top executives from AM Only, Atlantic Records, Atom Factory/Atom Empire, Burning Man, Citizen Net, Glassnote Records, Insomniac, Marquee Nightclub & Dayclub, Mobile Roadie, Pacha, Red Light Management, Strategic Group, TAO, Topspin Media, Turntable.fm, Twitter, William Morris Endeavor and The Windish Agency, among many more.
Registration for the conference will be on sale on May 3, 2012, at 10 a.m. PDT at www.edmbiz.com . ID&T reveals Mysteryland 2012 line-up
As Holland’s longest-standing festival, ID&T’s Mysteryland has certainly earned an illustrious reputation. 2012 marks its 19th edition and unlike other European festivals of its scale, Mysteryland is a one-day event. This time round, that day is August 25 2012, and ID&T has announced the first wave of acts set to take over the 163-acre site just outside Amsterdam.
Closing the Big Top mainstage is a Dutch hometown hero Fedde le Grand, and he’s joined by a cast of fellow A-list DJs. Elsewhere, the Dirty Dutch sound gets its own arena headed by Chuckie and ring-ins Cassius and Porter Robinson, the Fool’s Gold ‘Club House’ hosted by A-Trak, deep business from the Visionquest crew and all-out techno courtesy of Speedy J, Jeff Mills and friends over at the Electric Deluxe stage.
Also intriguing is the ‘back to back’ stage, which pairs scene veterans with younger protégés – Rotterdam studio whiz Eelke Kleijn teamed with the seasoned Hernan Cattaneo, Kompakt bossMichael Mayer versus Mike Ravelli, and so on. If you’re planning an adventure to witness the famous ID&T production in real life, tickets go on sale this Saturday 28 April at 6pm EST, which is 10am if you happen to be in Europe.

Elton John in Ibiza
The white isle has seen its fair share of superstar DJs, but it’s rare that a bonafied pop superstar takes to the stage.
Maybe that was the thinking behind 123 Ibiza Rocktronic, the island’s first three day festival, which has just announced Sir Elton John as its latest headliner.
He’s joining a bill that includes tantric lute-player Sting and 90s rocker Lenny Kravitz, alongside established electronic acts like Chase & Status, Azari & III, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, David Guetta and Fatboy Slim.
Sir Elton will be performing with Austrian electro pioneers PNAU. Let’s hope he’s planning to include the Ashley Beedle remix of ‘Are You Ready For Love’ in his set.
