Canadian Techno/New Wave & video game aficionado, Marc Houle, released music under the Minus label for many years. But like the old saying goes, “If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself.” This, along with the fact that Houle’s musical inclinations were veering further away from Minus’ new sound, made him realize it was time to do his own thing in order to stay true to his unique retro sound.
Alongside label-mates Magda & Troy Pierce, Marc started the Berlin based label ‘Items & Things’, and even though it’s success this past year has been limited due to their precise taste/vision in music, 2012 will indubitably be a blossoming year for I&T. For instance, the label recently showcased their first full-length album with Houle’s Undercover LP, where he takes inspirations from the synths and drum machines of the 70′s and early 80′s, organically merging his synth-pop & Detroit techno musical background… but I think it sounds like a retro-futuristic Frankenstein warehouse mutrantonica party.
