This week’s Dirt Babe is the lovely and talented CJ Milli.
It’s been a bit since you’ve seen one of our weekly smörgåsbords of musical stylings we like to call “The Dirt.” Get excited though dirty dancers cause this marks the beginning of us getting back on track. This week my dirty dancing alter-ego Burn Unit and the one and only SNEEVS have teamed up to provide you with all the late night music you’ll need to get you through this 4th of July weekend, and for our international dirty dancers, don’t you worry, the tunes work just as well for a normal weekend!
For my selections I thought I’d go with some songs that got me through EDC weekend. There’s one that was the standout moment of the festival, a few that we were pumpin’ in the hotel room, and one from the ride home that I played for my fellow travelers that got a collective “woaaah” on the drop, but they’re mostly throwbacks you probably missed. You’ll then find an exclusive sneevs selection– a mixture of recent and brand new tracks that have found their way into the rotation.
Tribal percussion, bird calls, references to drug dealing, some maracas… does it get much better? This track was released awhile back but sadly slipped through the cracks as I add hundreds of songs to my iTunes every week.
Plastikman was far and away the best thing I saw all weekend at EDC Las Vegas. The original of this was the encore. Here’s a more DJ friendly version.
Caution: This song will break speakers/rewire your brain. Keep it simple. Keep it simple. Keep it simpleeee.
Incredible. It frightens fragile-minded men, women, and children alike. Buy it. Play it.
The Big Fella Mike Enos was playing the Talking Heads original all over Vegas this weekend so I came home and looked for a quality rework of it. This is a classy take on a classic tune. It doesn’t necessarily fit with any of these other songs, but if you put this song on at any time of day, in any place, it will work.
Such pretty, subtly uplifting grooves to hang glide through the desert on, at sunset, with a lead reminiscent of Aeroplane’s immortal remix of ‘Paris.’
Awesome tech tumbles along courtesy of my good friends Broken Circuits from LA. Stay tuned for more on them soon and catch them live if you get the chance, one of the best sets I’ve seen in a while.
Jumpy bubble-tech to get you out of bed in the morning. So fun, love it. Check. Out. This. Track.
Seven minutes of droning thump jack, listen loud.
Just got into this Nicholas Jaar remix of the Matthew Dear classic. Haunting, weird, late night drive.
all our best. enjoy.
