The Dirt #31: Light Year

Today we cap off unofficial Light Year Week here at Gotta Dance Dirty™ (our third post on them this week) with Light Year taking the reigns as our special guests for this week’s edition of The Dirt.  Jordan & Mikey of Light Year are about to embark on their “USA Vacation 2011″ tour and want to give you a little sample of what you might expect to hear during their month of mayhem as they get set to rip up the States.

Not much else needs to be said that hasn’t already been said here and here.  So without further hesitation, Gotta Dance Dirty™ presents to you The Dirt #31 featuring Light Year (right after the jump).

ZZT – Zzafrika (Light Year & The Finger Prince Remix) by GottaDanceDirty

When it comes to remixing big names you feel a little pressure to perform and when it’s two of the biggest names, Tiga & Zombie Nation, you feel it even more. Lucky for us we teamed up with The Finger Prince to form a collaboration of our own. We love how it turned out, easily one of our favorite remixes we have done.  Released on May 30/31 (for those keen for the most beautiful vinyl release ever – Turbo100).

ZZT – Zzafrika (Julio Bashmore Remix) by GottaDanceDirty

We know this is ZZT overkill, but seriously, how do you take a record as ‘party level #5′ as the original and create this.

Bobmo – Hardbells (Strip Steve & Das Glow remix) by Boysnoize Records

Strip Ghetto and The Glow Man!!  When these 2 get together and make sweet French love, it makes Light Year happy. Plus, Mr. S. Ghetto has done a dope retro house remix of ‘Movin’ for us that is being released on “Light Year Remixed” very soon.

We are really excited about this record and who wouldn’t be with another mega collab on the way of Para One, Surkin & Bobmo.  This is a go-to track in all our sets at the moment, it reminds us a lot of Dave Taylor (Switch) early stuff but with all the modern gimmicks needed to make kids dance.

Junior Jack – Thrill Me (Dub) by GottaDanceDirty

If you have ever listened to a Daft Punk or Armand Van Helden track & instantly fallen in love with what a good sample and even better bassline can do, then get ready to send some chocolate & flowers to Vito Lucente aka Junior Jack. Easily one of our favorite house tracks ever.

Oliver $_Doin´ Ya Thang by oliverdollar

The Round Table Knights played this on Sunday morning in Melbourne at Revolver and the place blew up. Moodyman talking over the top of one of the coolest house grooves this year is pretty much as good as seeing the dude in person. Dope!!!!

Conducive II by THE-FINGER-PRINCE-YEAH

Our buddies have completely nailed this one. We love that solid techno vibe but the hip hop undertones and production make it sound so fresh.  All their stuff is off the charts, go grab their new EP quick!!!
And stay tuned for our Light Year & The Finger Prince collaboration later this year too.

In Flagranti-Worse For Wear (Punks Jump Up Remix) by Punks Jump Up

These guys have such a cool visual aspect that goes with their music, not to mention the actual music is classic.  The PJU remix is another staple of our sets recently too.

Harvard sent us his finished version 2 days ago and this is going to be a huge record. Its the 2nd track in the video, there is already a lot of hype on this remix.

Last but not least and only if you have a spare 8 minutes, which, more often than not we do…in fact we have been listening to it this whole time.

MAJOR THANKS TO LIGHT YEAR – BE SURE TO CATCH THEM ON THEIR TOUR OF THE U S of A!

sorry y’all…no zip file for this Dirt. at Light Year’s request, they just wanted to stream the tracks + support the artists and not give’em all way (some of them are too new anyway and are just rips from podcasts or live sets).
