The Dirt 17: November 6, 2010 featuring Daft Punk, Justin Martin, BetatraXx, Dero Animal & Caligula

So with The Dirt 17 I humbly offer you my hand for a midnight voyage through the desert of hyperreality.  Equal parts party, bass and strange you may encounter new sensations previously unfathomed.  Hopefully you’ll leave inspired, scared and smug satisfied with yourself, get it into you, buy the ones you like in full quality.

Daft Punk – Derezzed (NTEIBINT Remix) √+
This was check plus’d before I’d even heard it.  In short, it’s perfect.  Not sure if this is the actual leak or not but this is their latest from the Disney’s Tron soundtrack.  UPDATE: This is We heard this in the Tron promo / Derezzed music video recently, saw it posted on Vacay and tracked it down via SpotHeads.  As Daft Punk are the primary reason my life is now dedicated to electronic music (+ I’m a Disney shareholder) here it is in low preview quality.  Be sure to purchase the digital release of this in full quality when it comes out.  Oh and be sure to nab a ticket to the most expensive IMAX theater you can find, this $35,000 street legal lightcycle and fresh pair of Hurley Tron boardshorts + Tron Oakleys at this pop up shop coming soon to Culver City. And this Tron high heel by Jerome C. Rousseau.

• Justin Martin, Ardalan – Mr. Spock (Original Mix) √+
You know by now that techy weirdness is no stranger to the GDD Tribe post midnight but hearing this on proper system at Control’s Halloween Party damn neared grooved my tut headdress + sunnies off.  Nonchalant, thick and dynamic, best of all it samples Drop It Like It’s Hot in perfect taste.  Try to keep a floor empty with this one on, it’s all over the place.

• Robbie Rivera – I Love Batacuda (Dero Animal Drums Mix) √+
Fun, sexy house bops and squeals along for a good time but this mix gets my sneevdorsement solely for the straight-from-hell tribal wardrums of a breakdown in the middle.  Big room DJs reading this: please drop this prime time.  Have you heard this out?  Comment and share what it was like.

• Robyn – Indestructible (Laidback Luke Club Mix)
This sounds like a Laidback Luke Club Mix.  And there’s certainly nothing wrong with that, with a single listen you’ll see Luke doing his patented Laidback Luke DJ Hand Dances™ in your head.  Don’t see them?  Comment and let us know what you see.  Or don’t.

Metric – Gold Guns Girls (BetatraXx Remix)
Metric’s incredible hot Emily Haines gets refined and maximalized by our very own BetatraXx.  I see great potential for this remix performed out with his live drummer Nick Gross.  Love those two.  Love you Em.  Email me.

Huoratron – Corporate Occult (Mixhell Remix)
Schizoid electro to weaken your immune system.  Takes a second for a sensual rest and promptly gets back to kicking your ass.  Don’t question the beard.

• Doctor P – Big Boss
“Just what you would expect from Doctor P, high-end drive and a lot of dirt.”

Uffie – ADD SUV feat. Pharrell (Caligula Remix)
I was pretty sure I’d heard the last of this song until the deeply sinful duo Caligula chops it into a slurred submission with basically sounds like what you’d expect sippin’ easter pink Sprite with Uffie + Pharrell to feel like.  If they did that.

A-Trak – Robot Vision feat. Cyhi Da Prynce (ROBOROC Remix)
Someone gave A-Trak some Sprite too.

Distinction – Fly Eyes (Trolley Snatcha Remix)
I think I just burped up my soul.

Digitalism – Blitz (Harvard Bass Remix)
Our dear friend Harvard Bass strays from his usual electro tech grace for this repetitive, churning acid K-hole groove.  Sinister.

Surkin – Fan Out (Light Year Remix)
Light Year’s bright, signature vocal cuts sprinkle out nicely over their also signature throwback synth fatness– it’s all pretty fun.

• Roman Salzger – Alpha Centauri √+
Now here’s a real treat.  Shimmery future disco heaven to float you straight to a Classixx show.  Love this track.

• Claude VonStroke – Who’s Afraid of Detroit (Original Mix)
More quintessential dirtybird avante-tech to bounce around the lonely comfort of an empty skull.  Hearing this track means it’s probably now light outside and time for you to go home.  Carefully.

• Caribou – Sun (Midland Re-Edit)
(purchase the original)
Caribou is a mathematician who is better known as a composer and obviously super smart.  This is something the equally sharp Taylor Freels would post on his internationally acclaimed KidCityBlog and a perfect way for me to say goodnight, dear readers.  Keep groovin’.
