Product Placement

One of the cooler concepts to grace the electronic music scene occurred today when DJ Shadow announced that he had hidden two new songs on single vinyl pressings in random record shops across both Europe and the US. After rumors that the Shadow camp had shut up shop production-wise, he’s come back with a statement that he shall continue to release new beats as he completes them. “The idea is shop-placing; the opposite of shoplifting […] You go into a store and leave your record in the racks to be discovered later. It’s not about being cute, it’s about passing the music along in the most unobtrusive way possible.”

You can pick up the full download for free from his website this week, and then off iTunes from September 20

DJ Shadow – Def Surrounds Us √+

Some trippy breakcore tuneage, the highlight of which falls with the choral drop at 5:02

DJ Shadow – I’ve Been Trying √+

Mellow acoustic vibes in keeping with The Private Press. Nice track to drive to
