Despite volcanic disruptions and endless amounts of airline shenanigans, I managed to make it back to London for the weekend. So here’s the craic: Tonight, Fabric
‘s playing host to a stunning lineup
to mark the drop of Duke Dumont
‘s new FabricLive record.
Where: Fabric (Closest Tube: Farringdon)
Cashmoney: £14 or £11 Students/FabricFirst
A few tracks to send you on your merry way:
Solo‘s most recent tropical effort remixing Berlin-based trio Jahcoozi. Their Sri-Lankan/British MC Sasha Perera sounds eerily similar to M.I.A., minus the gunshots and cashmoney samples, which is not necessarily a bad thing. Their latest album dropped last Monday, entitled ‘Barefoot Wanderer’, and you can get your mits on that here.
Banging remix of New Jersey based UK Garage guru and Daft Punk collaborator Todd Edwards. MJ Cole‘s smashed out a fidgety Garage rendition of the track – for me, it’s the standout remix on the ‘I Might Be’ EP.
Spitting vocals over Mylo‘s house anthem ‘Drop The Pressure’, former Fabric resident collabs with LA-based electro-dancehall outfit South Rakkas Crew. Dope track.
Hopefully at this point you won’t be a stranger to Florence‘s ‘Drumming Song’, as it’s been remixed to death in the electro world. But this new remix by Seiji from Bugz in the Attic, gives a pretty fresh take on it. I’m a big fan.
Whether you’re out at Fabric tonight or not – Party on, Dirty Dancers; the weekend starts here. Have yourselves a good one.
